SPN - 7.02
Oct. 1st, 2011 12:46 pmJust watched it on download. (Now that Izhi has made the announcement, I can tell you that I'm in L.A. for her wedding! \o/ I'm reading "sexy Scripture," as she calls it. More on that later. Busy, busy day.) And I met kalquessa in person for the first time yesterday! \o/ And if there are weird typos in this, it's because I just painted my nails.
( But I must take a moment to flail )
Now to set my mind to wedding things. (Will write more specifically about it all later.) Don't know when I'll get my long and rambly done; it might have to wait until I'm home. I shall certainly try to have it done before the next ep airs.

For Kalquessa . . .
Dec. 1st, 2010 11:19 pmI've been meaning to post this for you, Cheese Elf. You might have already seen it before. I forget where I got it from, but it made me think of you.

For Kalquessa
Oct. 18th, 2010 10:19 amHey, Cheese Elf. Promo for next week's SPN behind the cut, in case you haven't seen it yet.
Sadly, I will not get to see it air live. I might not even get to see it until Saturday night. My impatience is impatient. Seems like delayed viewing might be SOP for the next couple of weeks. Oy.
( It's like crossover satire fic made canon. Or something. )

Woke up again this morning to snow. Like, snow. Like, there were three plows out, and I need to shovel the walk, and I wonder if I can make a snowman snow.
Like, "don't come in to work today" snow.
Looking out the back window, I can see the snow on the mountain, and it's really pretty. We're out of birdseed, though, so I hope the birds don't empty the feeders before I can get more.
Maybe today would be a good day to make some homemade bread.
I had a go at some crocheting yesterday. I really need someone to show me how to read patterns, though. Because I'm not at all clear on how to read the things. I'm also wondering if knitting is actually easier. Huh.
I didn't read a book last month, but I got a copy of Angels: God's Secret Agents, by Billy Graham, from
kalquessa (and Mr. Bill). So I think that's going to be my next read. Which will either make SPN that much more interesting, or that much more frustrating. We shall see.

Happy Birthday, Kalquessa!
Feb. 28th, 2009 08:16 amMay your birthday suit you--sweet and tangy, like a nice mango and ginger White Stilton.
(Seriously, if you ever get a chance, the stuff is de-lish.)

More Cheese Puns!
Feb. 25th, 2009 11:22 amSo, I've broken down and am reading the scan of the recent Venice interview. (Val? I still want my mag if you can get your greedy little paws on it.)
And I am delighted to find out that Jensen and I have something in common: cheese metaphors! \o/
In speaking about MBV 3D, he says, ". . . there's just the right amount of mozzarella shredded over the movie that people will understand that it's not trying to take itself too seriously . . ."
I laughed out loud. I thought you might appreciate that, Cheese Elf.
Also? Pushing Daisies, if you haven't seen it, combines pie with cheese (literally). You should totally check it out. Two of your most favoritest things, in the same place. :-)

So. Anything else anyone want to know?
SPN fic rec - "Barefoot Girl"
Feb. 9th, 2009 02:12 pmI cannot find the words to properly rec this fic. As one of the betas for this thing, I can tell you with authority that you do NOT have to have even an ounce of familiarity with The Time Traveler's Wife to thoroughly enjoy this rather AU and yet canon-compliant crossover. Even if time travel hurts your brain (as it does with me), I strongly urge you to give this a chance. Because it is so worth it. It's brilliant.
Barefoot Girl by
kalquessa.
Seriously.
Go.
Read.
Now.
Why are you still here?

A Beautiful Day
Feb. 7th, 2009 04:30 pmIt's an absolutely gorgeous day out today. I've got windows and doors open, and the fresh spring (Spring??? In February????) smells so nice.
Now I'm off to beta
kalquessa's story. Yay.
Now I'm off to beta

To Kalquessa
Feb. 4th, 2009 03:23 pmA part of TTW actually made my heart do this little jumpy thing today because I recognized it from your fic, which will be all awesome and stuff.
This in turn reminded me that since your fic will be awesome, I really need to get that last scene betaed so that you can post your awesomosity (awesomitude? Awesomity?) for the whole world to read.
To that end, I shall do my utmost to get the beta notes back to you before the weekend is over.
(Please note that this is subject to being rendered ded ov angst on Thursday night. In which case, I bear no responsibility for how incapacitated the Brothers Winchester might render me with their mid-mid-season hiatus thing--and WT???? is up with that????--cliffhanger.)
That is all.

Obscure ComicCon observation
Jul. 31st, 2008 06:28 pmI mentioned this to
kalquessa yesterday, and she was, reportedly, mildly amused . . .
Do you realize that both MacGyver and Young MacGyver were at your con last weekend?
There could totally have been a Q&A session.
Well, okay, maybe not, but still, that woulda been kinda cool.

Earthquake spam
Jul. 29th, 2008 04:33 pmSo suddenly my f-list is getting spammed by earthquake posts. Well, if you can call three posts from three different people a spam. So I shall just say here that I'm glad y'all are okay and that it added a dimension of excitement to your day.
In other news, our kitchen ceiling fell in last night. It had nothing to do with earthquakes.

Squee from Comic-Con
Jul. 27th, 2008 08:29 pmJust had a call from
kalquessa, who had the great fannish good fortune to attend the SPN panel of SDCC today. I won't say that she pierced my ear with the squee, but I'm both uber-thrilled for her and a wee bit jealous of her. :-) It sounds like it was a fantabulous time, and in keeping with my request, she did not spoil me, because telling me that the first 5 minutes of the new season is AWESOME is hardly a spoiler. It's to be expected.
(Pair the AWESOME of the first 5 minutes with ficwriter's ongoing squee headlines, and I have high hopes for the new season.)
Perhaps someday while the show is still airing, I'll be able to attend. Not holding my breath, though.
Yay kalquessa! Can't wait to see pics and read your report. You are going to report, aren't you?

Fan poem rec
Jul. 24th, 2008 06:24 pmI don't usually go for fan poetry--unless it is filk. Or haiku. Heck, I've written fan filk poetry (I've filked Poe and Shakespeare, so that should tell you where my filkish geekiness lies), and I've written haiku that smacked me upside the head and wouldn't leave me alone. ubt I don't usually go for original stuff.
But this? This is lovely.
kalquessa being all literary and stuff.
So go. Read. Enjoy the beautiful crafting of words and language.

. . . and anyone else on my f-list who is going to ComiCon:
After discovering from
sarcasticval that ComiCon's Sunday schedule is available, I toddled over to the ComiCon site and checked out what was doing.
Please note:
1) Spoilers will not be tolerated. If you spoil me, I will ask Bobby Singer himself to whammy-hex you so that you never again enjoy a surprise twist on this or any other of your favorite shows. You have been warned.
2) I would request that you point me in the direction of some tasteful accessories that will complement the nice shade of green I now sport.
3) Izhi and Val? Please be sure to keep Cheese Elf out of cheek-pinching reach of Mr. Padalecki. I do not want to be reading about her on-line after the con.
4) Izhi and Kalquessa? I request the same vigilance for Val in regards to Mr. Ackles.
5) Videos, videos, videos. Oh, and did I mention I want to see videos?
6) Photos would be good, too.
7) Have a grand time.

The Devil's Backbone: A Review
Jul. 8th, 2008 08:05 pmA few days ago, Geo and I watched Guillermo del Torro's 2001 movie El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone). I don't want to talk too much about it, as I don't want to spoil, but if you haven't seen this movie by the director of Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy movies, I highly recommend.
( A Spanish ghost story )
Also, My Mummy is now available for pre-order on Netflix.
And finally, I received a lovely quilled card from
kalquessa today. Thank you so much, hon.

She speaks truth

Jensen Ackles can give you three pages of dialog by moving nothing but his left ear,
Truer words are rarely written.
Which sort of leads me (not really) to the promised update on the ( progress of the Project Still LIfe Recap. )
And in other news . . . Jensen is an excellent actor. And not too hard to look at, either.
