Greetings, all!
( The Road So Far . . .  )
Now . . .
As you might guess from the above narrative, we’ve paid our adoption fees in full to the agency. However, in order to apply for monies we will need for his infant and toddler development therapy, we’re having to go through an additional court hearing, which will incur additional costs (it's all explained on our fundraiser page). We’re asking for help in covering those court costs. Please consider donating to our fundraising project, or listing our project as your charity of choice when you shop at select retailers. We're using Pure Charity for the fundraiser (search using the key word "legal fees"). Money you donate will go directly to the adoption agency (a 501(c)3 non-profit, meaning your donation is tax deductible. Check with your tax advisor). If you'd like the direct link to our fundraiser, please let me know.
Thanks so much!

Welcome, Baby Justice Jay Ackles!
Jun. 7th, 2013 08:22 amBreaking news from Danneel Ackles' twitter:
We are happy to announce the birth of our precious baby girl,
Justice Jay "JJ" Ackles. She was born happy and healthy on May 30th.
If I knew how, I'd link directly to the specific tweet.
Congratulations to the happy parents, and welcome to the world, little Justice!
May the three of you enjoy a life filled with joy, laughter, and love.

In like a . . . ?
Mar. 1st, 2013 05:09 pmWell, traditionally, March is supposed to "come in like a lion, go out like a lamb." It wasn't particularly windy or rainy to day, but cold it was. So . . . lion, I guess?
Also, today is the 35th b-day of one Jensen Ackles. Happy Birthday, sir!
It amuses me to think that once upon a time, 35 was considered "middle aged," and was the age often cited on the Geritol commercials. (Geritol was, iirc, a vitamin supplement for aging folks.) Because looking at him? Jensen ain't no "middle aged" guy.
Also as I referred to earlier, Jensen and Danneel are expecting a little girl, and they've chosen a charity to donate to in her (unannounced) name. Follow the link, complete with a message from Jensen.
Hats Off For Cancer.
And finally, my sinuses can clear up any time now, thank you. *sniff*

Baby Girl Ackles
Feb. 23rd, 2013 05:52 pmPer her Twitter, Danneel has announced that the coming Ackles is a girl. She also said that Jensen was hoping for a girl. They have a name picked out, but they ain't talkin'.
Yay, BabyGirlAckles! \o/
Jensen should be exponentially amusing at the upcoming convention, should this become a topic of conversation. And you know it will. Hee!
( Don't mind me . . .  )

Now that my Li'l Bro has made the internet announcement, I can share the news. My nephew was born yesterday evening. Li'l Bro has sent pictures, and Baby is a cutie! We'll get to see him at Thanksgiving.
And in an instance in surreal synchronicity, the minister who was my minister growing up passed away at approximately the same time. He was 100. I picture them doing some sort of heavenly hand-off or relay or tag team.

Baby shopping
Apr. 7th, 2012 10:46 pmGeorge and I did some actual shopping in preparation for early days: car seat/carrier, baby bather, diapers, and Butt Paste. Yes, the same kind Dean had Sam put in the cart in "Two and a Half Men." No, not because of that. Because it was the product that I could read and recognize all of the ingredients on the list. I like recognizing such things.
It's weird to think that (whether temporarily or long term) we'll have a wee one in the house soon. George even told me I should get to bed because this is the last (or almost the last) Saturday I'll have to sleep through the night for a while.
Not that my stuffed up nose is going to let me sleep through the night. Oy. Well, we can hope it won't get that bad.

An absolutely gorgeous day
Apr. 7th, 2012 03:01 pmThe foliage has been amazing (if a little bit early) this season.
The azaleas have exploded with color (with some still to come). The dogwoods have bee gorgeous (we need to see about nurturing the ones in our own yard, as they seem to be struggling).
The Good Friday play went well last night. I hope it was an encouragement and those who came got out of it what they needed.
I'm a little at a loss as to what exactly to do for the new person coming to our house. It seems like there's so much preparation that I don't know where to start, and I have no time to figure it out. (Pardon me while I freak out just a wee bit.)

And the baby's name is . . .
Mar. 21st, 2012 07:03 pmThomas Colton Padalecki.
From the People Magazine website:
Jared Padalecki Welcomes Son Thomas Colton
Jared Padalecki‘s new role: Superdad!
The Supernatural star and his wife Genevieve Cortese welcomed a son, Thomas Colton Padalecki, on Monday, March 19, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Baby boy weighed in at 8 lbs., 6 oz.
After announcing that they were expecting, Padalecki, 29, and Cortese, 31, requested fans contribute to St. Jude’s Research Hospital in lieu of gifts.
Thus far, fans have raised over $40,000 for the hospital, and the couple plans to match the final total.
Padalecki wed former Supernatural costar Cortese in February 2010 in Sun Valley, Idaho.
I like the name. Thomas is a name I've been half considering recently, since recently reading about the apostle Thomas's loyalty. (Yes, he's most remembered for doubting, but he was also loyal. Then Thomas (also known as Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” ~John 11:16)
It's a lovely name they've chosen. (Or perhaps Baby Thomas introduced himself. Hee.)

A good weekend
Jan. 31st, 2012 07:33 amHad a very nice weekend this past weekend. The parental units came to visit for my b-day. The weather was unseasonably warm (I really do wish we'd get a substantial snow at some point. It doesn't feel like we've had winter at all), and we did a little downtown shopping, watched some TV (introduced the folks to BBC's Sherlock), and had people in for cupcakes and ice cream (on Saturday).
George made waffles for breakfast on my b-day, and we ate out at some of our favorite restaurants over the weekend. For my b-day dinner, we checked out someplace new, The Silk Mill Grill, which is in a building that used to be a parachute factory during WWII.
Geo gave me S5 of N3. From Mother and Daddy I got some spending money and a sweater. From my MiL, I got a little spending money and a nice mug.
Saturday was a lazy day, and people in, in the early evening. (Also, there's a new cajun place somewhere in town. George brought in red beans and rice for dinner. Yummy!)
Sunday was church, lunch at Giovanna, and nap time when we got home.
( Birthday shout-outs )
