The foliage has been amazing (if a little bit early) this season.

The azaleas have exploded with color (with some still to come). The dogwoods have bee gorgeous (we need to see about nurturing the ones in our own yard, as they seem to be struggling).

The Good Friday play went well last night. I hope it was an encouragement and those who came got out of it what they needed.

I'm a little at a loss as to what exactly to do for the new person coming to our house. It seems like there's so much preparation that I don't know where to start, and I have no time to figure it out. (Pardon me while I freak out just a wee bit.)

Spring has sprung. The trees are budding--beautiful pinks and whites. The forsythia are amazingly golden. Our daffodils are in bloom. Spring and autumn have such amazing color here. We've opened the windows to breezes through the house. We've got a chipmunk or two that uses our back porch as a shortcut. It's just amazingly contenting to find a comfortable spot in the house and just be.

I'm going to DC tonight with a local drama reviewer. She has an extra ticket to a show, and she offered it to me. Free ticket, transportation, press night, and noshes. Why not?

Groundhog's Day.

February 2.

The crocuses are blooming.

What's up with that?

The sun is shining and the crocuses are starting to bloom. It's nippy, but I have the back door open onto the screened in porch. The fresh air is nice, and the kitties are enjoying it.

And they played "The Weight" on the radio on my way home. I've never heard the actual cut before.

All in all, not a bad day.

The forsythia is downright amazing, the trees are blossoming, and the daffodils are in bloom.

There are things about Virginia that drive me a little nuts, but I'll say this: Spring is amazing.

(And VDoT knows how to landscape their highways.)

Spring has sprung and I *iz ded*.

Spent the day outside clearing the ornamental gardens and flowerbeds. The weather is gorgeous, but I am wiped. Blisters on my thumbs, feet hurt, and I know tomorrow my arms and back are gonna be giving me what for.

But the flowerbeds are clean! And the daffodils are coming up. And the Lenten roses. And the hellebores from outer space.

I was planning on playing with recipes for dinner tonight, but I don't think I can stand in the kitchen for that long.

March 1 - Yep. Feels like March. Windy and chilly, but warming up. In like a lion, methinks.

I've been looking for some nice St. Patrick's Day cookie cutters. After making that batch of snowflake cookies a couple weeks ago, I'm thinking I need to do that more often. (In fourteen years of marriage, that was the first batch of cut-out cookies I can remember making.) I've also found a soda bread recipe in my bread machine cookbook.

Also, some dude named Jensen Ackles has a birthday today. So, you know. Happy birthday to him.

Hummies!!!

It's an absolutely gorgeous day out today. I've got windows and doors open, and the fresh spring (Spring??? In February????) smells so nice.

Now I'm off to beta [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa's story. Yay.

Yesterday, robins all over the yard.

This morning, pretty, fluffy white snow covering the landscape.

I imagine it will be all gone by this afternoon, but this morning it's very pretty.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today. And with good reason: the sun was out and it is warm.

This morning Geo called me to our bay window. There were robins . . . all over the yard. At least half a dozen.

Then I looked out the back window and there were more.

And across the back railing into the neighbor's yard, and there were more.

I've never seen a flock of robins before.

And we're supposed to get snow tonight.
