"Please copy and paste this to your status if you’re constantly being asked to copy and paste things to your status by friends who copy and paste things to their statuses. Many people will not copy and paste this, but my truly sarcastic friends will copy and paste it because they know this was copied and pasted from a dear friend in need of more stuff to copy and paste; and if you don’t copy and paste it, then this means you hate bacon. And if you hate bacon, the terrorists win."

I have no idea what that last part means, but it sounds bad.

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Groundhog's Day.

February 2.

The crocuses are blooming.

What's up with that?

With the wonkiness of LJ in the past week, a lot of us have been really frustrated with not being able to post, to communicate with one another, to contact peeps we only contact through LJ.

It seems a viable alternative might be prudent.

I know several of my LJ peeps really have no interest in Dreamwidth. I've also seen it indicated that DW users don't want DW to be inundated by LJ users.

It occurs to me that there is another alternative.

Long before I was talked into joining LJ, I was active on a number of Yahoo Groups. For those unfamiliar with YahooGroups, they act in a very similar manner to an LJ comm. I'm not sure about posting vids, and photos are posted in a photo folder available to the group.

Groups can be open or moderated, membership required or not. I spent many, MANY hours on my YahooGroups list. Too many. It's simple, convenient, and serves most of the purposes we use LJ for.

If anyone is interested, let me know. Perhaps a couple of us could start a group and co-mod or something.

What the frell? Been down since Monday, sporadic at best. Izhi and Val tell me it's a hacker attack. What possible agenda could their be for knocking out LJ? To incapacitate the fandoms of the world? Is someone out there really that concerned that fandom will take over the planet? Seriously?

I've got things I want to talk about. Thoughts I need to process. People I need to touch base with that I can only do on LJ.

Oy!

Btw, adoption training session this weekend. I'm expecting it to be informative and exciting. And maybe a little nerve-racking.

So. If you've been following this LJ since the beginning of the year, you know that I've been very shaken up by the death of a schoolmate, Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Hopper.

Well, yesterday, my high school was put on lockdown for 3 hours because of gunshots fired in the neighborhood.

Shots fired near local school.

Now, you gotta understand that I grew up in a rural area, and though the population and housing development on my old street have grown, it's still county and fairly rural. My parents can see the elementary school from their backyard, and the elementary, middle, and high schools are all on the same piece of land.

Thankfully, the shots were not fired at the school. And to my knowledge, discharge of firearms is not illegal in the neighborhood (my dad used to take targets out to the backyard and go plinking. He also used to set off a model canon every 4th of July). However, the guy who was arrested was arrested for inciting panic and drug possession. (Um, that's for inciting panic. And for drug possession. Not inciting drug possession.)

Too bad he couldn't be arrested for dangerous stupidity with a firearm as well.

Oh, also? The trailer of the guy who shot Suzanne was torched this morning. I expect investigators will discover that it was not an accident.
