So.

The other day, I was telling gluisa88 how much great fic was written during S3 and the S3/S4 hiatus. There was such a wide variety. It was a season and a summer of angst and dread and desperation and anxiety, and an occasional glimpse of hope. Would Sam save Dean from the deal? What would happen if he didn't? Would Dean go to Hell? Would Sam get him out? (Of course he would!) How would Sam get Dean out? What if he didn't get Dean out? Would Dean come back? Would Dean come back as a demon?!? (A fate too horrible to even think about.)

The way show dealt with it was totally unexpected, and I about bounced off the couch with excitement, but there were some excellent, heartrending fics written in the meantime. There was even, iirc, a humor one that particularly delighted me.

I miss having fic to look forward to. )

Title: To Escape the Grasp
Word Count: 1480
Summary: As Dean lay down for just a moment’s rest, a hand reached up through the ground at his ankle, like a zombie reaching from its grave.
Warnings: Post-"Survival of the Fittest." So, mild spoilers, etc. related to that.
Disclaimer: I still don't own any part of Show. Much more's the pity, yeah?
A/N: Consider this story AU. It was Carvered long ago, probably even before it was written. Still, an image stuck with me, and it kinda had to be written.
A/N 2: Additional info at the end of the story.

Does anyone remember a S3/S4 hiatus fic wherein Dean could hear Sam playing the piano while he was in Hell, that that's what he held on to? I can't find it.
feliciakw: (Snoopy)
An AU request? Really?

Apparently, yes )
feliciakw: (Gun & claw)
It occurs to me that perhaps a trip down memory lane would ease the sorrow.

Perhaps not.

Crazy Old Mr. Singer lived in a big, spooky house in the middle of his big spooky junkyard. We were sure the place was haunted.

People Are Strange

(Do I really need to point out that the title was borrowed from The Doors?)
feliciakw: (Halloween)
Read this line in a fic recently:

You weren't supposed to watch your family dance with death over and over. (From "Not This Way," by K. Hanna Korossy)

And suddenly, I flashed on a picture in my head of Dean and Tessa dancing.

Perhaps it's the season (Halloween, yay!) or perhaps I've looked at too much Edward Gorey and Charles Addams artwork recently.

But there ya go.

Any of you artistic types wanna have at?

Fic rec

This one is for [livejournal.com profile] ficwriter1966 in particular, but I think anyone would like it.

Fireflies, by de_nugis.

I'm gonna be diligent and warn for language, in case I have any sensitive (or underaged) readers.

Spoilery rec comments behind the cut )

Go. Read. Leave a comment if you've a mind. And come back here and let me know what you thought, if you're so inclined.

[livejournal.com profile] ficwriter1966, you know how I was telling you that I don't know what I want to read, but I'd know it when I read it? Apparently, this fits the bill.

Title: Just One Year
Word count: 671, give or take
Summary: Lisa felt like she had lost something, and no matter how hard she looked, she couldn’t seem to find it.
Warnings: Post-“Let It Bleed.” Spoiler warnings are in effect.
Disclaimer: Not mine, no money, though I wouldn’t mind sitting down and having a chat with the writers and actors.
A/N: Some of you might have already read this, as I forgot to lock my draft when I posted to my LJ. D’oh! Hope you enjoy it the second time around. :-)
A/N 2: They must have had me in mind when they titled the ep “Let It Bleed.” Just rip out my heart, why doncha, Jensen? Guh!
A/N The Third: I don't usually do this, because I guess I figure that people know which songs I get my titles from. But as I was stumbling around for a title for this one, I ran across this song, and I thought the lyrics were a very good fit. Anyway, that's neither here nor there.

Dear f-listies:

This ditty is in need of a second pair of eyes. Izhi? After you've seen 6.21, I'd love for you to give this a gander. I'ma let it steep overnight to make sure the words gel before I post publicly.

Also, not sure I'm down with the working title. Will sleep on this as well.

ETA for those joining me from tahirire's LJ, I've renamed the fic "Just One Year." As I was stumbling around for a title for this one, I ran across this song, and I thought the lyrics were a very good fit.

This way to fic. )

Title: I Ain't Missing You At All
Word count: 348
Disclaimer: Still not mine. Still Eric's. Still hoping things will work out.
Summary: She thinks about him every day. She can't help it.

I Ain't Missing You )

Just a little something to squeeze in between last week's ep and this week's. A little post-"Two and a Half Men" conversation.

Title: Close to Home
Word count: ~1,100 (+/-)
Disclaimer: Not mine. Still Eric's. Though I have invited Lisa out for coffee while Dean and Ben are at the car show.
Summary: Just because Dean's going away doesn't mean he's leaving.

Thanks to my beta [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha for the quick work. Her suggestions always bring things to my attention that need smoothing.

Fic?

So . . .

In my old fandom, writers would have been all over the missing scene where Sam went to the neighbors' house to collect Dean after the uber!poisoning. (For those familiar with TS fandom, I'm speaking of the myriad of missing scenes written for "Cypher," wherein Jim gets Blair out of the dentist chair.) Now, in said previous fandom, TS, I understand why the scene was ultimately deleted from the script: because it would not have added any forward movement to the story. And why fans write many multiples of the missing scene: they want the h/c fix.

However, in "Exile on Main St.," if we'd gotten to see how Sam reacts to such things now in comparison to how he reacted to finding Dean in the puddle in the basement in "Faith," or finding Dean in the djinn's lair in WIaWSNB, that could have given us some very interesting insight into this new and perplexing Sam.

So my question is, has anyone written this scene? I'd almost consider doing it myself, but I'd feel very out of my element, since I don't yet have enough information to grasp this new Sam. I'm not looking for a "fix their relationship NOW" type scene, or a deep, probing character analysis. I'm just looking for that little extra tidbit of h/c connection that we didn't get in the actual ep.

Anyone know of anything floating around like that?
feliciakw: (Snoopy)
Hey, gang. Locked post looking for feedback. Izhi? If you have time, I'd love a proper beta on this. (I'll send it via e-mail if you like.) But since you're, you know, all EMPLOYED and all, I understand if you don't have time.

This is my last ditch effort to get some fic written before the new season. I'm sure it will be totally Jossed or Gambled, or whatever the new term of the season is for fic to be rendered completely obsolete. And I'm sure Show will have a much better scene, with Jensen and Jared being awesome. Still, certain aspects of this have been eating at my brain for a long time, and so I wanted to finally get it on paper (so to speak) with possibility for public posting.

For those who know what's coming up, I don't. This is a best effort based on what little I do know.

If you see any glaring errors (grammatical or established canonical), please let me know.

Working (and probably final) title is Wind of Change )

As is probably evident, I haven't felt much like writing the past few days. There's been good and there's been frustrating, and I'm on that med cycle again that knocks me into a coma on a daily basis.

Title: Won't You Take Me To . . .
Word Count: Clocks in at 922 (+/-)
Summary: "Easy, dude," Dad said, glancing in the rearview mirror. "Give Sammy a break. It won't kill you to let him pick the music for a change."
Spoilers: None, really. Unless you're so new to Show that you haven't seen "Hunted" yet.
A/N: This has been sitting on my hard drive a long time. I used it for a comment fic meme once, but that's the only light of day it's seen. So some of y'all might have seen it already last summer. Other self-indulgent explanations at the end of the fic.
Disclaimer: Y'all know that they're not mine, right? Not the characters, not the music, not anything you might recognize, right? Just so we're clear.

Won't You Take Me To . . .  )

I had planned to post this last week, to work through some depression and all. Then [livejournal.com profile] girlyghoul70 sent me that hilarious piccie. And I had a very good weekend. So I'm feeling much better (though still very sleepy from my current meds).

But I want to share what's up, because now that we've had the season finale, which for all intents and purposes was the end of the five-year arc, it would seem I'm approaching the summer a bit differently.

Times They Are A'Changin' )
