I was feeling a little nostalgic today (wishing words would come so I could put an idea or two on the blank screen), and this fic came to mind. For those who knew me in my TS days, you might recognize this. I never archived it because it never felt quite finished. But I thought I'd share.

The good news is that Northern Exposure Season 5 is out, so I can get my Dr. Joel fix with "new" (to me) episodes. The bad news is that no one around here seems to be carrying it, so I guess I'll have to order it over the internet.

So for my treadmill viewing today, I watched my DVD of the pilot episode of The Sentinel. Never have I seen the show in such crisp clarity. The Guys' eyes are startlingly, amazingly, illegally blue. I don't think I've ever seen eyes this strikingly blue before. The picture was clear enough that I could read the names on one or two of the gravestones at the Peru crash site. And they corrected the spelling on Garett's name.

And what with my recent skin problems, I've started noting the complexions of the actors (I'll be very glad when this particular phase passes. It's very distracting).

Oh! And the brick that passes for Jim's cell phone. Ha! I'm so used to the modern little flip-open things that Don and Charlie carry on Numb3rs. The black brick really dates the show.

It's hard to believe that the show is ten years old. Very strange to consider.

Today's the day. The realtor is going to come over and take pictures and put the sign in the yard, I guess. It's a beautiful autumn day. I've still got clutter to hide, but there ya go.

Geo and I put lots of stuff on eBay yesterday. Since I'm a faster typist, I did the typing while he told me how to describe the items. Diecast car models mostly, though there were some Curious George items, and an old film projector he's selling for parts. I think one of the toy cars is going to surprise us. There are also several movie tie-in books, and 3 Dr. Who books from the Tom Baker years. And a child's gas mask, for those who were creeped out by "The Empty Child."

I haven't had the energy to start going through my TS scripts, though. I'm ready to start reading "Dead Drop." I usually read them for differences from the aired ep, and if there's anything cool, I can point that out to potential buyers.

I've also got TS videos that someone expressed an interest in a long while back, but I guess the person found them elsewhere more quickly, 'cause I haven't heard back from her about Seasons 2-4. *shrug*

In light of today's date, I'd considered posting my thoughts on this the fifth anniversary of 9/11. But I got all contemplative and muddled and not really inclined to post such ponderings. So here instead is some extemporaneous fic. Which wasn't going to get posted either, but [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha did the ol' puppy dog eyes routine, so here it is.

Occasionally, characters just start talking and I start taking dictation. Usually it's Jim and Blair, as is the case here. Don and Charlie have only graced me with such random fic once, but that's another snippet for another time. Or not.

Here, then, is what arose when Sarah posed a version of the question: What would Jim and Blair say if they saw Numb3rs )

Disclaimer: This refers to no episode in particular, just cumulative observations I've made over the course of the show.
