Hey, all.

I know a few of you on my f-list remember TS (The Sentinel, 1996 TV show, starring Richard Burgi, Garrett Maggart, and Bruce A. Young). I was really active in the fandom back in the day, and I was able to collect several copies of the drafts of various episode scripts. After a chaotic weekend in the basement, I've decided that it's time to part with these scripts. We need the room, and with a little one in the family now, and my working almost zero hours at my job (I'm more of a substitute house manager now, only working 1-3 days a month), every extra penny helps.

If anyone here is interested in seeing a list of the scripts and prices, or knows of anyone who might be interested, or knows of any communities this announcement could be posted to, please let me know. I don't imagine the fandom is as active as it used to be, since only one season was ever made available on DVD, and to my knowledge, the show is not gaining new fans with re-runs in syndication. Still, there might be someone who's interested, and any boost of this signal is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Upon re-watching TS, I've discovered a couple of things . . .

1. Jensen Ackles has apparently ruined me for my previous huge, resource-consuming actor crush.

2. I still find Garett Maggart's hands to be amazingly beautiful.

That is all.

I was feeling a little nostalgic today (wishing words would come so I could put an idea or two on the blank screen), and this fic came to mind. For those who knew me in my TS days, you might recognize this. I never archived it because it never felt quite finished. But I thought I'd share.

Top Five?

From [livejournal.com profile] july_july_july, because it sounded like fun:

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Wow. How do I chose only five? My first 'Net-published fic went up in 2000. This is like choosing your favorite child or something. But here they are, in order of fandom involvement:

1. All's Fair in Love and War (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, no longer publicly available on the 'Net) After coming to the rescue of a woman in a tavern, Iolaus finds he must keep a sibling rivalry from getting out of hand. This was my first 'Net-published fic, in my first heavily involved fandom. And it was a hoot to write. Actually, it sort of wrote itself. I wrote it in a script format, with snarky editorial comments and dated cultural in-jokes and it just felt like an episode. It's also one of, if not the longest fic I've ever written. And it has the only truly successful fight sequence I've ever written in a story, imo. I've pondered posting it here; I've just never gotten around to it. If there's an interest, that might decide me.

2. Sandburg and Me/An excerpt from Act III, scene i of The Story of Ellison, Sentinel of Cascade (The Sentinel) The days I wrote these were days flowing with filk and honey. Okay, so maybe it's cheating to include two pieces in one entry, but they really are companion pieces of sorts. And again, they wrote themselves. I love it when a filk comes together.

3. Reciprocal Function (Numb3rs) My first foray into N3 fiction, this one, again, pretty much wrote itself. I'm very proud of this one, as I enjoyed exploring Charlie's reactions to Don's job-related injuries. Written mid-2nd season, iirc.

4. Inequal Expressions (Numb3rs) Pre-series fic? WT??? No, I don't make a habit of writing pre-series fic, but this one had to be done. My first time playing both sides of the same conversation.

5. What Am I Supposed to Do? (Supernatural) Again, it had to be written. I wanted to explore what day-to-day life would be post-NRftW. Even though this has been Jossed into AU oblivion, and we now know that Sam actually did do a lot of things I don't have him doing in this fic. And he didn't do some of the things I have him doing.

I might also include Dark Side of the Moon and The Song Remains the Same because these three are a trilogy of sorts. WAIStD? explores Sam's days, DSotM explores his nights, and TSRtS is after all of it, readjusting, you might say. But of the three, I like the first one best.

Honorable Mentions:

1. Said and Done (TS) An experiment in style, an exploration of relationship, a possible explanation for Jim and Carolyn's break-up.

2. Domestic Disturbance (N3) Because the ending surprised me as much as anyone.

3. Claddagh (N3) I've always loved the friendship dynamic between Don Eppes and his 2IC Megan Reeves. Imo, the show never did play that up enough. Here's how I think Don and Megan related to each other when no one else was looking.

4. Independence Variable (N3) Because a rescue scene in "Hot Shot" would not have gone amiss. In fact, I think they shot one that never made it to the final edit. I used a scene from another, never-will-get-written fic for this one. I was pleased with how well it adapted. (Btw, the ep, "Hot Shot"? One of my very favorites in that it's a character study of Don through Charlie's eyes.)

4b. Four Days (N3) Latent h/c tendencies? Who, moi?

5. Basium Angeli (SPN) It comes from the heart, from a real place. Can't really say much more than that.

I don't usually tag, but I'm curious as to what [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha, [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa, and [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen have to say.

So. I was surfing the 'Net, having earlier pondered why I admire Jensen Ackles as an actor, and what qualities he shares (or doesn't) with some of my previous thespic infatuations. So I wandered over to see what Garett Maggart has been up to, which led me to checking up on what Richard Burgi has been up to.

And this is what I found:

For SPN fans who remember TS

Keep in mind he's already worked with Jared (provided they actually had scenes together).

Wow. Oookay. And it shoots in Vancouver. You think we could get the former Lt. Det. James Ellison a guest spot on SPN? We've already had Anna Galvin (fka Inspector Megan Connor).

Delving into the archives. Someone has requested access to read one of my old fics. (I'm tickled people apparently still read my fics. They even ask for them. :-) ) So here's one that was posted to Cascade Times on March 15, 2001:

Per a request from [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha, I'm posting my TS fic "Said and Done." This was originally posted to the Cascade Times mailing list on November 18, 2002.

[livejournal.com profile] izhilzha and I were talking the other day about fandom equivalencies. We've often said that )

And in other news, apparently the last 10 eps of SG-1 are supposed to start airing on SciFi on April 6. So there ya go.

So I was crashing around my old fandom, The Sentinel, today--seeing what of my fic is still on-line, stumbling across a list in the Cascade Library of everyone's first posted fics (mine was way back in May 2001), get getting sort of nostalgic about the whole thing.
