SPN - "Trial and Error"
Feb. 16th, 2013 04:09 pmThis ep has caused quite a stir and much discontent in some corners of the fandom, which led me, the other day, to contemplate and wax philosophical regarding my time in fandom and the experiences there, when during a show's run I became involved, whether I was a latecomer to the fandom (but not the show), a latecomer to the show, or an observer who enthused about the show with a limited number of RL friends but not a group of on-line list-sibs/cyber-buds/mysterious handles. How I managed to avoid the character wars and generally how those experiences differ from my current observations. But that's a different post for a different time.
It's been a while since I've been inclined to do a long and rambly, but this ep called forth some things that I feel inclined to comment on.

First for the random. Geo and I were listening to Styx in the car the other day. Can someone please tell me why Blue Collar Man has not yet been used as a season-opening or mid-season "The Road So Far"? Long nights, impossible odds, indeed. Also, Boat on the Water, which would just break my brain with the implications for Dean and Sam if the river in question is the River Styx.
And considering that "Renegade" is still, in my book, one of the--if not THE--best uses of a music cue in the show . . . Seriously. More Styx, please.
Also, it's about time they used "China Grove" on the show. Every time I hear it on the radio, I wonder when they're going to use it on Show. So, we have that out of the way now.
Now, about that promotion:
( From Misnamed Handmaiden to Battlefield Captain: The (LARPing) Rise of Dean Winchester )
( And in completely unrelated news . . . )

SPN - Reading Is Fundamental
May. 9th, 2012 06:57 pmOkay, this is going to be messy. I'll try to keep it focused and not go chasing down too many rabbit holes, but . . . well, here we go . . .
( When last I wrote about this . . . )
( That sound like somebody saying no-wait-stop to you? )
Well, that doesn't seem as thorough as I'd hoped to make it, but I think I covered most everything. Overall, I think this opens up some interesting possibilities for the next two episode, and I hope they make something juicy (not a TDK Slammer) out of it. I'd also love some delicious fic over the summer hiatus.
( All in all, looking forward to Friday. )

SPN - "The Born-Again Identity"
Mar. 25th, 2012 12:39 amWell, there's already been much talk and speculation about the ep by a lot of other folks on LJ and elsewhere that are leading lengthy, active discussions. So if you'd like to join the topic already in progress, you can check out
ficwriter1966 and
tahirire among others.
Following is my own modest contribution to the topic. (Some of it is probably stuff you've seen elsewhere, but if it's not from my own brain, I try to give credit where it's due.)
( I wouldn't call you on a maybe. )

SPN - "Out with the Old"
Mar. 21st, 2012 08:39 amThis ep, again, was pretty straight forward and self-explanatory. Not a whole lot to dig into per se, but I thought it was an enjoyable ep.
( No, I think the world is full of hilarious coincidences. )

SPN - "Repo Man"
Feb. 20th, 2012 12:52 pmThis was, to quote a famous space cowboy, morbid and creepifying.
It also STRESSED ME OUT!!!
And was pretty darned awesome. You know. In a morbid and creepifying kind of way.
( It's the Drummer Boys. Agent's Bohnam and Watts. )

SPN - "Adventures in Babysitting"
Jan. 12th, 2012 08:04 amOkay, here we go. I'm gonna try to just hit the highlights on this one.
( You think it's easy to see this deep into what's real and also be bi-polar with delusional ideation? There is no pill for my situation, sweetie pop. )
