With the wonkiness of LJ in the past week, a lot of us have been really frustrated with not being able to post, to communicate with one another, to contact peeps we only contact through LJ.

It seems a viable alternative might be prudent.

I know several of my LJ peeps really have no interest in Dreamwidth. I've also seen it indicated that DW users don't want DW to be inundated by LJ users.

It occurs to me that there is another alternative.

Long before I was talked into joining LJ, I was active on a number of Yahoo Groups. For those unfamiliar with YahooGroups, they act in a very similar manner to an LJ comm. I'm not sure about posting vids, and photos are posted in a photo folder available to the group.

Groups can be open or moderated, membership required or not. I spent many, MANY hours on my YahooGroups list. Too many. It's simple, convenient, and serves most of the purposes we use LJ for.

If anyone is interested, let me know. Perhaps a couple of us could start a group and co-mod or something.

Hello? Are we back on-line?

Oh, f-list, I have missed you so.

I've been freaking out and wanting to share. But no LJ.

I've been watching S2 of Show with nostalgia, and wanting to share, but no LJ.

I've been wanting to read fic, but no LJ.

I've been going a wee bit stir crazy at work, but no LJ.

And some of the people I've wanted to get in touch with, I can't do any other way but LJ.

Ack!

I'd intended to write about our weekend at the Cleveland International Film Festival and the great movie we saw there. But I just haven't had the energy, I guess.

Right now, there's a wee bit of emotional stress going on. If the government doesn't get their act together (I won't go off on a tangent about how neither party is worth a hill of beans), George won't be going to work on Monday. He's part of the non-essential 800,000 who will be furloughed until the government is running again.

To add insult to injury )

It's raining. Inside my office. Seriously.

Heavy, heavy rain today, and I've got a waterfall down the wall about five feet from my desk. Plus one over one of the sub-panel/breaker boxes. Plus one in the far corner. Plus one in the middle of the room.

Honestly, if this construction doesn't get underway soon, I don't think I'm going to have an office left to work in.

Twilight can go away any time now.

Okay, I was delighted with the mockery of the Twilight series in last week's ep of SPN. I have good-naturedly told my young relatives who love the series that vampires. do. not. sparkle. Period. I have debated reading at least the first book so I can critique further and with authority, but my interest has never been that keen.

Now we have this:

Superman Gets a Hipster Makeover

Not that this affects me one way or the other. Christopher Reeve will always be "my" Superman.

Ugh
