I've lost touch with the TS (The Sentinel) fandom over the years, so I'm hoping some of my f-listies can help me out. I've got quite a collection of scripts boxed in the basement, and it's time for me to start clearing things out. If anyone knows of a community where I could post these for sale, that'd be awesome. Or, if you know of someone who might be interested, send them this way. (I'm only asking/expecting the cost it was to me, so not much. Collector-to-collector, no money made, etc.)

Also, if anyone is interested in a full screen version of Cry Wolf, or in Starship Troopers 2 or Decoys (the Canadian release DVD), send 'em this way. I've also got a three-ep Emmy consideration screener DVD of Street Time, which was a cable series that Rob Morrow starred in, that I need to find a home for.

If you could boost the signal on this stuff, that'd be great. Thanks.

Last night Geo and I watched The Christmas Cottage. I gotta say, that movie is becoming a holiday favorite. Just a nice, quiet, heartwarming movie. Not overwrought or sappy, but a warm, fuzzy feeling that leaves me saying, "Ah, that's a nice little movie."

The characters are likable and real, and their problems are real.

And there is always a scene that makes me cry. Sometimes more than one scene. But it's not always the same scene. (Well, one scene always does, but the others vary.)

Jared is just delightful in the movie, and I love hearing him narrate as well. Geo made the comment that it's very strange to connect the young man in the movie with the young man who beheads vampires on SPN. Jared's Tom Kinkade made me realize that I really rather miss Sammy, while at the same time impressing upon me how well Jared has been playing Soulless Sam as a shallow, singleminded, empathy-less character.

Also, Jared has beautiful eyes and a beautiful smile. It was nice to see them again in this movie.

In short, if you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend a rental of it before the season is over. Pop some popcorn, put a fire in the fireplace, turn on your tree lights, take the phone off the hook, and just enjoy. And keep a tissue or two handy, just in case.

. . . I really am that pathetic.

S5 on DVD today )
feliciakw: (Jensen promo)
To keep me busy between now and Thursday, I pulled out Jensen's season of Smallville (the only season I own or have even seen any part of), and I've come to some conclusions.

First, I think I mentioned a long while back that when I discovered Jane Seymour was playing Jensen's mother, I was very impressed. Although I'm not a "fan," Jane Seymour has always left me with a positive vibe. I first saw her when I was a child watching the original Battlestar Galactica. She played Serena, Boxy's widowed mother who fell in love with and married Apollo (and shortly thereafter, gets killed). I've never been able to bring myself to watch Somewhere In Time, but I've always heard good things about it. My Aunt J2 was a fan of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. But what really impressed me was when Ms. Seymour was part of our public library's speaker series when I worked at the PAC. She seemed to genuinely enjoy her time with her audience, and she was a very interesting person to listen to. She was having such a good time talking to the audience and answering questions, in fact, that she ran over her allotted hour and we kind of had to pull her from the stage.

And as Jensen said at a con a while back, she's an older woman, and she played his mother, but . . . I believe his exact words were . . . "damn, is she sexy." She seems to be aging gracefully, and I hope I age as well.

So when I was speeding through SV (because really? The show holds zero interest for me, though some of the actors turned in good performances, and I rather liked some of the supporting characters), I'd watch Jensen's stuff, of course, and Jane's. And when they were on screen together? I really liked the interaction between the actors.

Now, the interaction between the characters? That's another story.

It would have been a completely different show )

This means that:

1) I've just finished mainlining S1-S4. Had to do some serious cramming today to get the last eps in. My brain is now kinda mushy. Also? the BluRay DVDs are a bit too much in some respects. Like the reflection that a person has off their eyes, which is normal and usually unnoticeable? Are for some reason particularly prominent in the last few eps I watched today. And kind of annoying. It's hard to concentrate on the dialogue when my brain is going, "Are their eyes supposed to be glowing like that? Or is it just me?"

2) I'm ready to start S5 right now.

3) I'm gonna have to find a good S5 SPN icon. And figure out if I want to swap out an icon or just add it to the almost exhausted list. (I want to add an autumn and/or Halloween one to my list this year, so I'm almost maxed out on my icons.)

4) *FLAIL*
feliciakw: (SPN - LR (4.01))
They get a thumbs up from me.

I just called and asked that they reserve a Blu-Ray lenticular cover collector's edition of S4. Last year it was my little Hot Wheels or Match Box Impala. This year it's cool 3D cover art.

Here's hoping the kid--I'll call him Chuck--can follow through.

And yes, a year later, I am no less pathetic than I was last year.

I've been watching the Smallville DVDs I got recently. Okay, I've been skimming the discs and watching the story line in which Jensen plays a part.

Jason Teague is adorable. Well, for the first half of the season, anyway. And romantic. Unless he's whammied out on day-glo green sports drink. Then he's kinda scary.

I realize Jason kinda goes off the deep end in the second half of the season (which I'm getting into now). And it's really weird (and silly) that I, knowing that he left SV for to be on SPN, now want to watch Jensen's work in chronological order . . . which means starting over at the beginning of S1 SPN. Um, no. No time for that.

While most people might not think it that big a deal, I'm tickled that Jensen got to work with the likes of Jane Seymour. I house managed when she came to the PAC as part of the public library's speaker series, and though I did not get to meet her myself, she was pretty darn awesome. Very interesting and personable. And she had such a good time talking and answering audience questions that we 'bout had to haul her bodily off the stage. :-) Also, I remember first seeing her when she played Serena (Boxy's mom and Apollo's wife) on the original BG back when I was but a lass.

Also, John Glover, whom I don't know a whole lot about, but who I've always gotten the impression is a pretty heavy hitter and quite the coup when a show can cast him. (Or maybe I just think that because Geo and JT once thought that he would be perfect for a roll in one of their movies.)

Speaking of SPN, WIaWSNB continues to rock. For realz. I'm actually quite sorry they lost Raelle Tucker as a writer. She wrote or co-wrote some of the best eps out there. (I also think maybe she had a thing for Dean-peril, which, you know, kinda puts her and me on the same wavelength in that regard.)

The weather has been uncommonly cool this summer. Nothing like the horrible drought we had two summers ago when I first moved here.

Some women's husbands bring them roses.

And some women's husbands bring them horror movie DVDs. Starring Jared Padalecki.

Guess which category mine falls into. :-)

The surround sound on the MBV disc is excellent. I'm sitting on the couch, watching the beginning of the reveal scene, and Jensen actually snuck up behind me and startled me when he started talking right by my right shoulder--or more specifically, his off-screen line was channeled to the speaker positioned about a yard away from my right shoulder.

Two thumbs up, sound engineers.
feliciakw: (Default)
So yesterday I finally broke down and bought the Blu-ray 3D DVD release of MBV. Took a look at it last night.

The 3D is done in the old school style with the red and green lenses. And the 3D actually looks pretty good. The problem with the R&G format is that it kinda screws up the colors, and you can see a sort of outline around all the figures. But the animated stuff? Like the news headlines at the beginning? Very cool.

And I'm actually kind of impressed at how good it looks in 2D. We took a look at the 2D version (only the opening scene), and it didn't look gimmicky at all. So that was great.

The movie still squicks me out, but Jensen is a very good-looking guy, so, you know. I'll live with it.

So, for our anniversary, Geo surprised me with a copy of The Christmas Cottage. It was released on our anniversary, actually, but I had it on my Netflix list, being somewhat hesitant not knowing exactly what quality of holiday sentimentality to expect. It was really a rather delightful surprise.

It's a small world )

The review proper )

So, yes, for those of you ([livejournal.com profile] izhilzha) who were wondering if the movie would be worth your time, I'd suggest at least renting it and giving a a look-see. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hey, flist. I know I'm "running with a different crowd" than I did during my TS days (um, that would be The Sentinel), but you never know unless you ask, right? Or maybe you know people who know people who'd be interested.

I've got three DVDs that admirers of Richard Burgi might be interested in.

The Movies )

I thought I'd bring this to my flist before going to eBay or craigslist in the hopes of finding someone directly. If you or anyone you know is interested please drop me a PM.

I've heard rumors that Jensen's movie Ten Inch Hero (yeah, like you all need an explanation) is available in Region 2 format. Geo told me that that's not a problem for us, as our DVD player plays Region 2. So now I'm all curious . . . Where might one go to find this, what's the shipping cost, is it the actual English language version (not dubbed, turn-off-able subtitles), etc., etc., and so on.

Anyone?
feliciakw: (Say What?)
Question for y'all . . .

I've finished watching Disc one of S3, and I'm a wee bit disappointed with the quality.

Has anyone else noticed that:

A) The episodes do not default to showing the recap, but rather, you have to turn the recap on with each episode (on Disc 1, at least).

B) In the "Then" previouslies for "Bad Day at Black Rock," part of Sam's dialogue is missing from the soundtrack. Specifically, the part where he asks Dean how long he has . . . Sam's voice is missing, Dean's reply is there, then Sam's "You shouldn't have done that" is missing, but the "I guess it's my turn . . . " is there.

I figure this is something wrong with the entire pressing, and exchanging for another set won't help. But I'm curious if anyone else has noticed these flaws.

Luckily, the eps themselves and the extras we've watched thus far seem fine.

ETA: In "Dream a Little Dream . . . " when the maid is trying to wake Bobby up, there's a small portion when the audio drops noticeably. It's not missing, but it's like someone bumped the volume level in the engineering room.

*sigh*
feliciakw: (Trouble=Dean)
So, SPN fans know that today is the release day for S3 on DVD.

In Sunday's ads, BestBuy had the set listed with a bonus: a limited number (5 per store, though Geo said it was at least 5 per store) were going to be packaged with a die cast model of the Impala (a 2-door model, per what's out there, 'cause I've looked, and 4-door models are not to be had). The closest BestBuy to us is in C'ville, an hour away.

It so happens that I had an appointment in C'ville today. And Geo pointed out that I could stop by BestBuy while I was down there.

Which I did.

And snagged the last set on the shelf (at least, the last set I saw).

I am a geek because:

1) I made the effort to do this rather than just get a set without the car at our own Target here in town or something.
2) This is the highlight of the first half of my week.
3) I placed above mentioned DVD set in one of our insulated bags in the trunk of the car, knowing that I didn't know how long my appointment would take.
4) I called [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha to share my find.

I will point out, however, that I come by my fannishness honestly. Eventually, I'll get around to telling you about it.
feliciakw: (My Mummy)
So, Geo received his copy of his own movie from Amazon today. (Not sure why he ordered it through Amazon, but there ya go.) And we're listening to the commentary. And I gotta tell ya . . .

The commentary is funnier than the movie, imho. This could be because I worked on it, and I get a kick out of some of the recollections, but still, it's a hoot.
feliciakw: (My Mummy)
Just a reminder that My Mummy, the movie Geo and I worked on several years back, is now available through Amazon and Netflix. It will also be available through Geo's Filmically Perfect site (where you'll also find downloads of his radio show).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
feliciakw: (Jared promo)
So, a couple months back, while we were having lunch at IHOP, Geo and I were talking, as we often do over lunch, about our current TV shows and the actors who appear therein. We often discuss their other projects, and what story or screenplay ideas of Geo's they might fit in.

And Geo says )
feliciakw: (Default)
So, Geo is off to the Big Apple this weekend, and once again I'm left to my own devices for the weekend. Last night when I returned home from dance class, he says, "I got a couple of guys to keep you company this weekend."

Um, okay . . . what????

'Cause I couldn't think of anyone he or I would know well enough to do that.

Then I'm thinkin' Winchesters, and I'm thinkin', "But Season 3 isn't even over yet. No way the DVDs are out. That's just silly."

But no.

He was actually referring to Bobby and Darien. Woo hoo!

So I now have S1 of I-Man waiting for me. Which is excellent considering that we came into the show mid-way through the first season and never saw re-runs for the beginning of the show.

I also pointed out that now that we have I-Man, we can pull out our Farscape DVDs and once again have our "Sci-Fi Fridays," like back in the day. Of course 10:00 is N3, so that's not negotiable. But the rest of it? Woo and hoo.
