Some women's husbands bring them roses.

And some women's husbands bring them horror movie DVDs. Starring Jared Padalecki.

Guess which category mine falls into. :-)

So, Geo gets home from work (I'm trying out a new recipe at the time, but that's neither here nor there) and says, "I got something for you today."

"Oh?"

"From Slindy's*."

Said warily, "Uh-oh."

So he pulls out and hands to me an unopened copy of Cry Wolf. "Oh!" I exclaim.

It's the unrated, full-screen version. After futzing around with the TV's picture settings, Geo came to the conclusion that the movie was shot widescreen (as there's a widescreen version), but framed in such a way that it could be shown (read: aired on TV) at the standard TV ratio.

Last night, I wanted to check it out--just watch until Jared shows up--to see how it looked.

We ended up watching the whole thing.

It really is a nifty little murder mystery disguised as a teen horror flick. I'd forgotten how good it was.

I had to laugh at Geo when he startled when Jared made his first appearance, though.

"Why did you startle?"

"What?"

"Why did you startle?"

"Who was that young guy?"

Bwah.

*Slindy's is a flea market/junk store that fills an old bowling alley. It must be experienced to be understood. You'll find things there that you won't find anywhere else. And it is kept in such a way that I don't think they even clean things before they heap them on display. Someone just calls them to come pick up the stuff the person cleaned out of their attic/garage/basement, and Slindy's picks it up, takes it to their store, prices it stupid cheap, and puts it on the shelf. In fact, Geo has commented that Slindy prices have kinda ruined him for shopping at the other antique stores in the area. It's like going garage saling one weekend, then going back to the department stores. There's a sudden mental disconnect regarding the differences between the two. Heh.
