Question for y'all . . .

I've finished watching Disc one of S3, and I'm a wee bit disappointed with the quality.

Has anyone else noticed that:

A) The episodes do not default to showing the recap, but rather, you have to turn the recap on with each episode (on Disc 1, at least).

B) In the "Then" previouslies for "Bad Day at Black Rock," part of Sam's dialogue is missing from the soundtrack. Specifically, the part where he asks Dean how long he has . . . Sam's voice is missing, Dean's reply is there, then Sam's "You shouldn't have done that" is missing, but the "I guess it's my turn . . . " is there.

I figure this is something wrong with the entire pressing, and exchanging for another set won't help. But I'm curious if anyone else has noticed these flaws.

Luckily, the eps themselves and the extras we've watched thus far seem fine.

ETA: In "Dream a Little Dream . . . " when the maid is trying to wake Bobby up, there's a small portion when the audio drops noticeably. It's not missing, but it's like someone bumped the volume level in the engineering room.

*sigh*

All I've watched of my set are the last disc of special features. Let me know what other strange things you come across and I'll check my discs out.

Upon further inspection...

Yeah, mine is the same way. Although I wonder if it aired like this? Heck if I remember.

I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of special features (Are there no commentaries at all? Bummer!). I'm of the personal belief that a truncated season should be supplemented with additional shinies to make up for the loss in episodes.

Well, if they aired like that, iTunes corrected it. I still have the downloads of the entire season, and while a lot of the differences in soundtrack are due to hearing it in surround vs. hearing it on the computer, Sam's dialogue *is* in the iTunes download.

Someone fell asleep at the engineering board.

Re: lack of features . . . I'm totally with you on that one. AND the set should be less expensive than an entire season, because, Dude. Reduced season should = reduced price.

No commentaries, but the little "scene selection" extras (or whatever) where someone gives a little insight into a given ep, those are kind of interesting. Though some of the things Kripke says have me going, "You're not serious, right? You're yankin' our chain. 'Cause it's lucky that you're surrounded with such talented writers because Dream Sequence Lisa/Dean character development TOTALLY trumps F13 Jason in random Dean dream sequence. Dude."

Hasn't the recap been optional on all the DVD sets? Hmmm. You're right about it usually defaulting, though.

Yeah, it's always been an option, but the discs have always defaulted to the recap. Now if I want to watch the recap (because I always do; they're different each time, and sometimes they have cool music), I have to remember to turn the option on.
