Was surfing around to give my brain a break, and I found an interesting interview with Alona Tal. Don't know if I want to check out her new show or not, but why I really wanted to post this was because of the photo at the end of the article. It's been a long time since I've seen a photo of a contemporary actress that so strongly said, "Classic Hollywood" to me. Just, wow.

Found this Kripke interview while I was surfing this morning.

I haven't read all of it, but I had to Expandcomment (read: snark) about a few things )

My Venice Magazine arrived today. Squee!

And [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr? There's a lovely pic of Billie Piper in it, along with her interview. I can't promise I'll get anything scanned this week, but I'll try to get your and [livejournal.com profile] leelust's articles scanned next week.

Thanks, Val!!!

Now I'm off to bake Irish soda bread for dinner tonight.

So. Geo went to Ohio this weekend, and he ended up having to rent a movie to which he was giving an introduction for a public showing. He has a friend who manages a Blockbuster, so he went there, and they had the most recent SPN magazine in the rack. So he calls me and asks if I had the copy of "the Supernatural Magazine that has the guy who was in the X-Files?" No, says I. "Do you want me to get you one?" says he. "Sure, if you want to," says I.

So he brought me back a magazine and a 2-lb box of chocolates. And for himself, he got for cheap a copy of the new DVD release of the original My Bloody Valentine. Why am I not surprised? (This means I get to get the Jensen Ackles version, right?)

Y'all might be amused to know that according to interviews in the magazine, Jensen got an electric dirt bike, and Jared got a scooter. So you have 6'4" Jared folded up onto his scooter and 6'1" Jensen on his mini dirt bike, drag racing around the lot. I would almost pay money to see that. Ha!

So, a couple days ago, as I was sitting in my living room here in Virginia, I discovered that Jensen was going to be featured in Venice magazine.

So I got on-line and asked my friends in California (on the other side of the continent) if they could go on a treasure hunt.

Then someone in NY told me that the mags were available on eBay.

I was additionally excited to discover that there would be a feature of interest to an f-listie in Europe. And of course the f-listie in Russia.

So I and another f-listie from Ohio ordered said magazines.

Alas, there was a mistake in the listing, so we don't get our mags.

But then [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval, being the good, enabling fannish enabler that she is, offered to purchase them direct from . . . the publisher? I think? Anyway, so the interwebz are serving their purpose.

To that end, if anyone reading this would like their own copy of the Venice magazine, you can contact SarcasticVal here.

Ain't the internet grand?

In other great news, SPN has been renewed for a 5th season. I'm afraid to think of the cliffhanger they're going to give us this year.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] kimmer1227! I found that interview we were talking about. It's a 2-part interview on TVGuide.com, dated October 2007. The information we were talking about is in Part 2.

That's right. I'm lookin' at you three. Uh-huh.

So, who wants to go on a treasure hunt? 'Cause if any of y'all could find this mag, I'd be very, very grateful. (FIVE pages of interview! Two amazing pics! *wants*)

I just found out about it today, and since we're at the end of February, I don't even know if it would still be on the news stands. But hey, I thought I'd ask.

:-)

ETA: Problem solved, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] smalltwndreamer. Muchas thanks, hon!

ETA 2: Gah!!!! Billie Piper is listed among the profiles/interviews! [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr, I'll see what I can do about getting a copy of that to you, either electronic or (less likely) hard copy, if you're interested.

Just got done watching Jared's interview on Bonnie Hunt. Now, anyone who follows this LJ knows that when it comes to my current thespic infatuation, my heart belongs to Jensen. That said, Jared is too adorable for words. I love that he is so tactile (as is Bonnie, apparently), and so easy-going and open and honest.

And he looked really good, too.

Jensen and Jared really are great complements to one another. And I'm doubly tickled that they're great complements to one another on the show--playing the opposite roles of what they are in RL.

An interview from yesterday's Parade (I assume.) We don't get the Sunday insert here in Culpeper, but I found this link in my surfings today.

Jared makes some very interesting observations toward the end, I thought.

This way to the interview.
feliciakw: (Jensen promo)
I'm continually impressed that whenever I read about or hear something about Jensen from people who actually know him or who have actually worked with him, I have never heard or read anything negative. Now, granted, I'm relatively new to the whole Jensen love thing; I've not been following his career since his days as a wee babe on DoOL or anything. But it's been my experience that anything negative I read has been speculation (or upon occasion, dare I say meanness?) on the part of fans. It's also been my observation that if a fellow industry individual feels negatively toward someone, the best they will do is say nothing. My limited observation tells me that industry people do not go out of their way to say something vastly complimentary about someone unless they mean it. And certainly not to go above and beyond by commenting on how genuinely nice a person is.

This is my observation, and I'm continually tickled to read things like the following (the full interview can be found here):

(Quote by Todd Farmer, screenwriter of MBV 3D, bold text mine)

I remember calling Patrick after I first saw Kerr’s tape. It’s hard to explain. You’re sitting there watching tape after tape after tape and suddenly it clicks. Kerr clicked. Then Jensen was cast and it was simply perfect. First time I saw those two on screen together I was riveted. And I when you saw them on set you got the sense that they genuinely dug the characters and wanted the movie to rock. I recall Jensen telling Kerr, “You know, when I say this, you should say this…” And now it’s one of Kerr’s best lines in the movie. And I didn’t write it. Jensen came up with it and handed it off to his comrade. That’s a level of professionalism in a dog-eat-dog-jealous world that you just don’t find.

Jensen played the role better than I’d written it. So, that said, he was crucial. His choices made it a better movie. It’s to a point now that I can’t imagine anyone else in the role. Being a great actor should be enough. But no. He’s got to be infuriatingly good looking as well. With that deep milk chocolate voice. He’d be amazingly easy to hate if he wasn’t such great guy.

We had a scene together. Not an easy scene by the way. Not for anyone involved. And while I did shine as Fredrick in The Pirates Of Penzance, this was only my second film. But Jensen was… well… he was simply cool.

It pleases me greatly to read that Jensen isn't just a pretty face or an amazingly talented actor, but that he's also a good person.

[livejournal.com profile] kimmer1227 pointed me in the direction of www.dreadcentral.com the other day, where you will find four interviews with people involved with the making of MBV 3D. Three of the interviews are with performers; one is with the director.

There are no interviews with Jensen, but he is mentioned quite prominently in the interview with the director, Patrick Lussier. (Jensen was considered very early on for the role, but things originally were not going to work out. Then as the start date for the movie got pushed back, and the production pursued Jensen again, as the shooting conflicts with SPN were no longer an issue.) Jared is also mentioned in the interview.

ExpandBelatedly cut for spoilers. Sorry. )
feliciakw: (Jensen promo)
The information is pretty much what we've heard already, but check out Jensen's enthusiasm over the prospect of 3D sports broadcasts.

Oh, Jensen. You're adorable.

feliciakw: (Default)
I found this interview today, and I share it here because I thought it was very interesting. I'm probably slow on the uptake as usual, but there ya go.

Once again, Jensen is well-spoken and honest and tactfully open in his responses.

Standard Disclaimer: I do not vouch for anything on the rest of the site. I have no idea what the site's standard content is, and I didn't go looking. Proceed with this in mind.

I come by my fannishness honestly. It's genetic or something. The most recent example:

I was talking to my mom about going to see MBV this weekend (working around to telling her I'd heard from my cousin GirlyGhoul), when she interrupts to tell me that TV Guide Channel's "Hollywood 411" is going to do a segment on MBV tonight. She's not sure how much Jensen is in it, but when I told her he had the lead in the movie, she was like, oh, well then.

It just tickles me that she'll interrupt me to inform me of actor appearances on shows. Heh.

I'm still trying to track down which ep he's going to be interviewed on--Mom says tonight. But at least I was able to find the channel (I'm hopeless at finding channels anymore. Between the move and the Tivo and the not watching "live" television much anymore . . . yeah, I have no idea what channels my shows are on).

So anyway, there ya go. Hollywood 411. TV Guide Channel. Jensen. Have at.

Usually, I'm a spoilerphobe. But when I went 'Net surfing today, I ran across this interview with Eric Kripke. Nothing horribly spoilery, and much of it has (probably) already been speculated about the fandom. However, one of his comments seems a trifle problematic to me.
