I warned you I'd be chewing on this ep all week. And it's only Monday. (Really, I think they should show two eps a week, simply so my brain doesn't overprocess things.)

More rambly babbly to start the work week )

As we're approaching the beginning of S6, I'm not really looking for long, drawn out discussion here, just floating something that occurred to me recently. (Comments of course are welcome. It's just that spirited debate probably won't be forthcoming).

ETA: Some of my post got lost, it appears. *sigh* Re-created to add.

Lost Boys

I think I need to pull out our disc of The Lost Boys. For those of you who haven't seen it, and are SPN fans, you totally should. It's almost eerie how much they have in common.

SPN circa 1987 )

Geo is something of a Pat Benatar fan, and so we listened to a lot of Pat on the drive from Ohio back to Virginia. I'm of course familiar with a lot of her stuff, but some of her later stuff, I'd never heard before.

I'm pretty sure that if the question was posed to him, we'd find that Dean was a Pat Benatar fan, too.

Which brings me to the purpose of this post )

All righty. An end-of-the-season round-up before we get to a triumvirate of excellent eps and major mytharc developments.

I wrote about Roadkill and Heart last year. Nothing new or particularly enlightening struck me, but I do want to say that I really enjoy the outsider POV of "Roadkill." And I think they were watching Sixth Sense when they wrote it, but I like the twist it gave us, and then gave us the condensed version of the ep from the Winchester POV. Ms. Raelle Tucker, you are missed.

"Heart" provides us with one of the scenes I analyzed in depth in this post. I think everyone reading it will appreciate the scholarship and attention to detail that went into that particular meta.

They're like miniature Philly cheesesteaks. They're delicious! )

I think I'm adorable. )

Hey. Don't look at me funny like that. Thursday is usually the end of my work week. And considering that I worked both Friday and Saturday last week (and was dealing with a little bit of depression), I'm delighted that I'm almost outta here for the weekend!

More SPN babbling behind the cut )

So, after nearly three years living in my new area of residence, I'm finally finding more than just one radio station for my car radio. (We live in such a remote area that our selection is somewhat limited.)

What stations have I found (besides the contemporary Christian)? . . .

The rock station (both classic and newer). I think of it as the "Dean" station.

A station that goes by the call sign SAM FM. It plays the most eclectic variety of pop and rock I think I've ever heard, from all over the calendar.

And of course there's the adult contemporary/mix station, WINC FM, out of . . . wait for it . . . Winchester.

Between the rock station and SAM FM, it was like I was listening to my SPN soundtracks on the way home from C'Ville today. For realz.

I'm amused.

To share with my f-list.

[livejournal.com profile] izhilzha and [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa each wrote me a little something for my birthday. Go and read.

Paid Back A little Dean-h/Sam-c, because that's how I roll.

Capacity Wherein there is baggage, both literal and metaphorical.

Also, Geo made a very tasty cake. But blowing out sparkler candles really doesn't work.

"Well, you sure look lovely tonight. Especially for a dead chick."

So . . . why isn't Dean wearing his ring in this ep? Inquiring minds want to know.

In other news, congratulations, Jensen. Best wishes to you and your lovely fiancée.

Why?

Here's a topic for discussion:

Most everyone I know in the SPN fandom can easily point to whether or not she is a Sam girl or a Dean girl. Being one or the other does not mean that you dislike the other brother, but you are definitely partial to one over the other.

My question is why? And does your preference for the character translate into a preference for the actor who plays him? Or did you like the actor first, and that determined which character you'd prefer?

And if we want to complicate things, what if you're a John girl? The presence of the character of John Winchester is most certainly an influencing factor of the characters of the two leads. But most of what we know of John in early S1 is filtered through the perceptions of Sam and Dean. JDM himself only appeared in a handful of episodes. John is an interesting character, to be sure, but he's secondary to Sam and Dean as the leads. So I ask: Why John?

Hi. My name is feliciakw, and I'm a Dean girl. )

Geo and I are back. The kitties are still here and have not destroyed the place with wanton partying.

Though the circumstances were sad, it was still good to see the fam again. And traveling with Li'l Bro and SiL is always fun. Stories might be forthcoming.

A couple things I've decided while traveling:

1. Sam is a Rob Orbison fan, or at least he was when he and Jess were together.

2. The Chumbawamba song "El Fusilado" reminds me of Dean in the narrator's resilience. Well, with the exception of the chew toy thing. (Btw, it's based on a true story. It's also off one of the the most depressing albums I've heard in a long time.)

I don't know if I'll get caught up on the ol' f-list, so if there's something you think I need to know for my continued good health and peaceful existence, point me in the appropriate direction in case I miss it, 'kay?

It's back. And about freakin' time, too. Withdrawal, I tell ya, is not fun.

Plus S1 creepy with S4 angst is for yay.

Not much in the way of the thinky thoughts on this one, though [livejournal.com profile] dodger_winslow has some really good ones. A lot of what she put into words I picked up on on a peripheral/subliminal level. (Mind you, I don't agree with her stance on everything in the ep, but at the core, I don't disagree . . . )

This way to the not-so-thinky thoughts )
feliciakw: (Eye of the Tiger)
Because after watching con clips, I feel the need to share the Jensen love. And because this is not spoiler-y for any plot points from S4, this is one of the few things I can share with you, [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr. (It's an out-take that has nothing to do with the actual ep.) It should be enjoyed often, particularly when you're in need of a smile. If you've already seen it, well . . . one more time won't hurt. From one Dean girl to another:
