Well, it used to be the sparkling white snow, a fire in the fireplace, pretty winter sweaters, warm comfort food.

But with temps in the 60sF and rain drizzling down, it doesn't feel like winter (or that Christmas is only 3 days away) where I am.

As a Midwesterner, I'm just gonna have to learn to adjust to "Christmas in Dixie," I guess.*

*We had the most snowfall I've experienced since blizzards as a child a couple of years ago. No snow this year, though.

Guillermo del Toro's El Orfanato (The Orphanage)

I've seen quite a lot of horror movies. Some of them are fun, some of them are cheesy, some of them are gross (not really into those), and some of them scare me and make me watch through the holes in my afghans (like the Paranormal Activity movies. Those really creep me out). But I don't think anything has horrified me as much as the resolution to The Orphanage. My paranoid mind recognizes that at its core, it could actually happen, and it just . . . terrifies me.

I'll expand in the comments if asked to do so.

Considering that my preferred occupation is in the arts, it's pretty obvious that I'll take a job I like over a job that pays well.

PAC: The bestest job I ever had. Ever. )

In middle school (or maybe elementary when we were using the middle school building. It was in the middle school cafeteria, as I recall), in the lunch line, a boy was . . . doing something that really annoyed me, or said something that made me mad, or something. So I bopped him on the head with my fist. (Think: "Little Bunny Froo-Froo hopping through the forest, scooping up the field mice, bop 'em on the head *bop*) It was like I was watching someone else do it. I was more surprised and embarrassed than anything afterward. I don't recall his reaction, though I think surprise might cover it. I remember who it was, too, but I won't say.
