Homemade ding dongs - finished. They didn't come out as well as they usually do, imo. But they should taste fantastic anyway. I thought about wrapping each one individually in foil for an authentic childhood experience. Hee.

Angel lush trifle - finished. Complete with made from scratch angel food cake. Which turned out beautifully. Thank you, KitchenAid.

Ice cream cone cupcakes - one dozen came out okay. The rest were a failed experiment. I now know to follow my instincts rather than the directions on this one.

Pineapple pretzel salad - finished. So stupid easy that the only way you can mess this one up is if you can't boil water. (Well, okay, you have to be kind of careful when you have the pineapple and cornstarch on the stove, so as not to burn it. But still. Stupid easy. And delicious.)

Now to collect decorations.

Yesterday I had my b-day party. Geo spent the day baking a molasses cake with date filling from scratch. It was most assuredly a learning experience, but it turned out very well.

For dinner, we went with friends from his work to the Indian restaurant that has become quite a favorite. The food is tasty, and the service is excellent and friendly. They even gave me a slice of cheesecake with a candle, and everyone else got rice pudding. Yummy!

Then we all came back to our house for cake and ice cream. I used my "shock and awe" technique to blow out my candles. It's a technique I developed by watching my cousin several years ago, and since then, I've never had a problem. And everyone is always shocked and awed that all the candles go out in one quick puff. Geo compares it to putting out an oil rig fire. Heh.

So cake, ice cream, and pressies. All the cards were very nice and sweet, and for gifts I received a candle, a hand crocheted scarf, and a book to help me develop a new skill set. I love it and can't wait to try something from it. Hee!

I forgot to mention that for my (real) b-day, Geo gave me the S4 set of Dr. Who. (The most recent one to air in the States. The Donna year. That was S4, right?) I still haven't been able to bring myself to re-watch any of it, but I really should, as I really like Donna.

It was a very nice gathering, and I got to talk sci-fi shows a little bit with the young (late teen/early 20s) boys that came with their parents.

All in all, very nice.
