So. Churches are finally cluing in to what (Christian) Who fans have known since . . . well, since we started pondering the New Who, I guess.

Dr. Who as messianic parable

Well, yeah, of course.

Mind you, I think parables are best when they aren't explained. To steal a quote from another show: "Wisdom must be gathered, it cannot be given."

Of all the parallels and metaphors, I think my favorite is the Doctor/Companion trust relationship--that if a Companion trusts The Doctor, even when they don't understand what's going on, they'll be fine (like your icon :-) ). The Companion trusts The Doctor the way we should trust Christ.

And I think Christians already get the parables and metaphors; but it could be a good way to explain to the "uninitiated" the nature of a relationship with Christ--His power, our trust, etc.

Yes. And this is a key one, so very hard to explain to skeptics, because they think "Faith is bollocks, anyone who believes in something that they don't understand is an idiot and a fool". And the point is, it's not "believing in something", it's "trusting in someone".
