Thriller Night! Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2008 10:17 pmDudes! It was AWESOME!
Tonight we went to see Bride of Frankenstein on the big screen at Geo's work. But that wasn't the awesome part. (For some reason, that movie always makes my eyelids heavy.)
No, the awesome part was their first pre-feature featurette. Which was an amazing 35mm print of . . .
Michael Jackson's Thriller! That's right MTV fans, from back in the day when MTV was worth watching because they actually ran, you know, music videos that were worth watching. Thriller. In all its glory. ON THE BIG SCREEN!!!!
Yes, I wore out a cassette of that album and had to buy another back in the day. Yes, I had a VHS of the "making of" documentary. Yes, I was a huge Michael Jackson fan before he went all weird. Hey, I was a high school freshman. What do you expect? Yes, I know the choreography, and yes, I can sing along.
And dudes, the print looked amazing! It was so much FUN to see it on the BIG SCREEN! I was grinning the whole time! It was the best part of the evening.
The second featurette was Tim Burton's Frankenweenie. Which was kinda cute and rather funny and had a lot of in-jokes that I didn't get because I've never seen the original Frankenstein.
But THRILLER! On the BIG SCREEN! So. Much. Fun!

Dateline June 5: Because I am married to the most fantastic man in the world to whom I am not related by blood, I will have the rare pleasure of screening seven episodes (the pilot plus six eps) of a show called Still Life. It is a family drama that was to air on FOX, written by Kip Koenig and Marti Nixon, directed by Michael Lange, and starring some kid named Jensen Ackles.
I received a call from Wonderful Enabler Husband today, who told me, "I now have seven beta-cam tapes sitting on my desk."
Being married to this guy? Who works with a bunch of geeks? Is not without its perks.
( Still Life: The Recap Project )
I should definitely thank Geek Co-Worker who went to the effort to find these tapes in the huge backlog of videos that need logging. He, too, is an Ohio boy. I owe him some buckeyes.
