So suddenly my f-list is getting spammed by earthquake posts. Well, if you can call three posts from three different people a spam. So I shall just say here that I'm glad y'all are okay and that it added a dimension of excitement to your day.

In other news, our kitchen ceiling fell in last night. It had nothing to do with earthquakes.

Your kitchen ceiling? What? How did this happen?!

Last night I noticed water dripping from our kitchen ceiling. I looked at what was going on and thought, "Aha! That's where the A/C duct is. I'll be something's leaking." But I couldn't find anything.

When Geo got home from rehearsal, he went up and found the big, huge, wet spot . . . that was hiding under dry insulation. WT???? Okay, whatever.

So around 11:00 pm, while he's up in the attic trying to daub up the water, and I'm in the kitchen trying mop the ceiling dry . . .

Suddenly the ceiling falls in.

Thankfully, neither I nor any of the kittehs were under the patch that fell. And no furniture was damaged. The ceiling, it turns out, is made of 2 layers of cement board, which the water softened to the point of collapse.

We've had the A/C repair guy out, and we've got a claim in to the insurance company. I'm hoping it can be repaired soon and efficiently. Because we still have the bathroom to tile.

*sigh* When it rains, it pours.
