feliciakw: (Christmas - snowy tree)

We finally got the tree decorated on Saturday (Dec. 11). We also went to see a little community theater production of A Christmas Carol in Washington, Va., about half an hour away. Their local community theater has converted an old church into a theater space. I imagine the rooms that are now closed in as the sound and light booths might at one time have been a choir loft. Maybe. The only source of heat was a wood burning stove (thank you, Mr. Franklin), and there was someone sitting beside it feeding it before patrons started arriving. They had approximately 104 folding chairs set up (no pews), so it was a tight squeeze. It was quintessential community theater--the acting was serviceable, but you could tell everyone was having a great time, and the community got a great kick out of it. It was all very quaint and enjoyable.

Half an hour isn't really that far to drive for rehearsals and performances, so I'm thinking about contacting them to request being put on their mailing list for audition announcements. This prospect frightens me just a bit. It took me 15 years to get to the point I was at when I left Ohio, and that was in a larger community, with people who knew my capabilities and experience. Trying to break into a tiny, tight-knit rural community theater seems like an up-hill challenge, but I'll never know unless I try, right?

I also want to get in touch with our worship minister and new senior pastor and talk about plans for the drama ministry come the first of the year. But that's a separate entry that I haven't been able to post just yet.

We have a light dusting of snow this morning. It probably won't stick around long, but at least it's an indication that Christmas is in the air. It's strange to be hearing on the radio how other counties are under winter advisories and schools are on delays and such. I look out the window and think, "This is hardly anything, let alone worth a school delay." It must be for fog or visibility or something.

Last call for Christmas cards. I expect to be in the office by myself today, so I'm going to try to get those finished--or at least well started.

Yeah, we got a wee bit of ice this weekend, but no snow.

And yeah, you should check out that community theater group. Maybe you can show them a thing or two!

I've decided I'm not lifting a finger for Christmas this year. No decorating whatsoever. I downloaded some holiday tunes on my iPod, but that's about the extent of my holiday cheer.

Made it in to work today, but tomorrow is questionable. More snow is expected for the next 3 days, with windchill temps around 0. Good times...

I'm in the same boat. Doing plenty o' nuttin' for Christmas. No decorating. No present getting or giving. My friends and family decided this year it's low key with only money to be spent towards sharing time and perhaps food together. I am getting somethings for my Godson something (because he's 11 and well... opening of presents is still a thrill) and I have friends who have birthdays near Christmas who I'm shopping for. But other than that- just listening to Christmas tunes and trying to stay warm.

Good luck with all the snow up yonder!
