Comic Con thoughts

I just watched most (all?) of the SPN ComiCon panel (minus vids shown at the panel). Whoever told me there was nothing uber-spoilery is correct. And I gotta say, I'm excited for the new season. Here are a few comments:
1. Ben Edlund is just. not. right.
2. Did I hear that right? They're going to have a fairy (fae) episode? Could you here my squee where you are? (Also, Jim Beaver cracks me up.)
3. Okay, seriously, folks. Outside my own family, Jensen has got to be the most awesome man on the planet. I would love to have a sit-down with him over coffee or wine or something. I know, I know. Get in line behind the rest of the fandom, right? But seriously. Every time I hear him talk, I'm amazed at how similar our opinions are on the topic at hand. It's . . . kind of bizarre, in a way.
4. Is it just me, or are they doing a role reversal and giving Dean the basic story outline that they started Sam out with (trying to reconcile who he is with what he wants, specifically, reconciling being a hunter with wanting a normal life and a family)?
5. Kripke said something regarding Chuck that I appreciated. While I don't buy his statement completely, I do appreciate that he points out it was left open to interpretation. (However, that bit of conversation led to something that I really didn't appreciate at all.) But I'll get to that when I get to the end of S5.
6. The way they describe the situation in Heaven really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm so glad that's not the way it is.
7. I'm hoping that even though they'll be introducing new mythology (their own, I assume; not actual mythologies in this instance), they'll weigh heavily on the MotW formula and the brother/family relationships on the show. I'm kinda done with TEH HUGE EPIC. Ya know?
8. Every time I think I can't adore Jensen any more than I already do, he proves me wrong.
I've got a scene--not even a full-fledged fic, just a scene--that's been kicking around inside my head for quite a while. I know it will be Jossed come the beginning of the season, but I'm wondering if I should at least work it out and get it written down before then. Hm . . .
We should be getting our B:UtRH disc tomorrow (yes, Geo went ahead and ordered it). And I think the new SPN tie-in novel is due out next month. Oh! And Carl Hiaasen's new book comes out tomorrow, too. So there's plenty to keep me busy until Sept. 24, right? Right?

Date: 2010-07-26 03:54 pm (UTC)#4: YES. I AM THRILLED. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEW SEASON HOMG.
#5: I was pleased with Kripke for not insisting on one specific interpretation of the Chuck thing. Well done, sir.
It sounded like they're not planning to do huge epic stuff anymore. The emphasis really seems to be on monsters; both MotW and some kind of monster-related throughline arc, it sounds like. (I thought of Sam when that was mentioned.)
BTW, B:UtRH is FANTASTIC.

Date: 2010-07-27 03:36 pm (UTC)But I'm going to stop with the interviews now. I think I've heard quite enough until September.
September. The second half of September. Oy.

Date: 2010-07-26 04:54 pm (UTC)I'm also watching Kripke's interview, because I wanted to hear what he had to say about his original plan. The download is being slow, but thus far, it's interesting.
