Vacation wrap-up
Jun. 22nd, 2008 08:43 pmWell, as I posted yesterday, we're back in Virginia. It was a great week by the sea.
I think it was probably the most relaxed I've been . . . since the move to Virginia, maybe. I actually got to sit and read a real book. In quiet. In relaxed atmosphere.
I went swimming for the first time in I don't know how many years. The ocean was clean and clear where we were, with minimal critters to be on the lookout for. I got more sun than I've had in years (and it seems to have helped my complexion issues somewhat).
As it turns out, I didn't have to do any cooking. Turns out my in-law family are all into planning great meals, and if you get in the way, they push you out of the kitchen. I felt kind of lazy and non-productive, but what can ya do?
I had some time for some rather thinky thoughts, but those will go in a different post, if I write them up at all.
I spent more time with my nephews than I have in years. (I think Nephew10 and I talked more this week than we have his entire 10-year life.) It was quite a treat.
I went kite flying for the first time in probably decades, literally.
I'm glad to be back with the kitties, but really? I could have stayed longer, if the family had.
Because one of the best things about the week was having 3 generations of Geo's family under one roof. For a week. Sure, the nieces were on their laptops, and the boys were playing video games, and I spent a lot of time by myself reading, but we were all there.
And that's something I really miss.
