[livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr tagged me for this one:

You're at a one of those parties where you end up meeting a cool random person and talking to them about whatever for a few hours. Pick five fictional characters from five different TV shows (current or canceled) that you'd want as your conversation partner and what you'd talk about.

Only five?

Wow. Okay, lemme try. In no particular order:

1. Marilyn Whirlwind (Northern Exposure) - Even though she'd probably be very difficult to carry on a conversation with (because she's just a silent person), I'd like to talk to her about Native American lore and legends, because I simply don't know enough about such things. We could also talk knitting (which I don't do, but have often thought I should learn) and sewing and stuff.

2. The Doctor (either the Ninth or the Tenth) (Dr. Who) - Though he'd probably have to encourage my end of the conversation because I'd just want to sit and listen to him, I think.

3. Bree Van de Camp Hodges (Desparate Housewives) - We'd talk recipies. Definitely.

(I should probably include Lynette Scavo here for balance, because where Bree's recipies would most likely lean toward the gourmet, Lynette's would all be for convenience.)

4. Don or Charlie Eppes (Numb3rs) - If Don, then I think normal, everyday things would be a good topic of conversation, because I don't think he gets to do that very often. "Seen any good movies lately?" If Charlie, then topics of math might lead to larger philosophical discussions, eventually veering (with some effort) to the everyday. "Seen any good movies lately?"

5. Kim Brown (The Unit) - I actually *have* been thinking about this character lately, because when we meet her (on the show), she and her family are going through a government-instigated (read: military) move. From everything I've heard, it sounds like the Library is doing a lot more for us than the military does for its folks, but this whole thing about coordinating movers has been in my thoughts recently. I'd like to include Molly Blane in the conversation as a voice of experience and influence. Heck, add Tiffy Gerhardt to the conversation, and we'll just head to the kitchen for brownies and wine.

Honorable Mention:

Dr. Joel Fleischman
(Northern Exposure) - Joel actually made my original Top 5 until I re-read the instructions. Hopefully he'd have some tips on getting acclimated to a new environment--what with my upcoming move and all--and not completely losing my sense of self. Though with Joel, it'd probably be a lot of learning what *not* to do, because the topic of his indentured servitude is kind of a touchy subject for him. (Dang but I gotta share my NX ponderings . . . )

Ed Chigliak - (Northern Exposure) We'd talk movies, of course. But not in the "Have you seen any good ones latey?" sense. We'd talk in the analytical, character development, story arc sense.

Ya like how I slipped those extra folks in there? *g*

ETA: Ha! Here are George's conversation choices:

1. Jim Brass (CSI)
2. The 4th Doctor (Dr. Who)
3. MacGyver (MacGyver)
4. Gomez Addams (The Addams Family I have half a mind to go back and edit my list to include Morticia. Or maybe I'll just post the fic I wrote for a college class.)
5. Jaye Tyler (Wonderfalls)

Honorable Mention:

Bill McNeil (NewsRadio)
Ralph kramden & Ed Norton (The Honeymooners)
