It would seem that if fandom has a designated confection, it's pie. This confection holds a prominent place of honor in the following:

Twin Peaks (specifically, cherry)
**Stargate: SG-1
Numb3rs (specifically, pi)
Pushing Daisies

And of course:

Supernatural

And let's not forget:

*Sweeney Todd (specifically, meat pies . . . but we won't go there . . . )

***Smallville (Ma Kent's apple pie)
***In the Heat of the Night

(This post made for the express purpose of using my new icon. And because I just pulled a pumpkin pie out of the oven. Btw, pumpkin pie has got to the the easiest pie on the planet to make.)

*It's strange for me to think of Sweeney Todd as actually having a fandom, since fandom isn't something I usually associate with live theater. Of course, lots of shows have very avid and active fandoms, so maybe I'm just weird like that . . .

Pie (and cake) are part of Stargate SG-1, or more specifically, Jack.

Urgo: I want to live! I want to experience the universe and I want to eat pie!
Jack: Who doesn't?

Beat me to it! Because of that line from urgo and the thing with pumpkin pie in "Window of Opportunity" I've always identified pie as Jack's dessert of choice, but apparently cake is more broadly accepted in the fandom as his official favorite. *shrug* I like pie better.

There is a pumpkin pie reference in "Window of Opportunity"? Where? Where? I'll add SG-1 to the above list.

Wait, actually...I think I'm on crack. I was thinking of another scene from "Urgo" and my brain is not working this afternoon. (Seriously, you should see the comment I just left on another friend's post, I had to go in a completely change it around for it to even start making sense. *gets another cup of coffee*)

Excellent! I was wondering if there were any pie references, but I just kept coming up with cake. Probably because I haven't watched SG-1 in an eon or so.

So back before I'd seen the end of SPN S2, I was at Izh's for her birthday party, and the following exchange occurred:

ME: I have eaten a healthy dinner like a good girl, and now I get pie!

HER: *snickers* Of course you have a thing for pie.

ME: What?

HER: Nothing. You haven't seen that episode, yet.

And then I saw "All Hell Breaks Loose" and was like "Huzzah, Dean loves him some pie, too! Oh, so that's what Izh was snickering about."

I usually prefer cake myself, but give me the option of pumpkin or key lime pie, and I am so there.

A nice apple or peach pie is good, too.

And my mom makes a really good strawberry-rhubarb pie in the summer.

Mmmmm . . . pie . . . .

I am all about the pie. Cake is nice, and all, but I can only eat a little bit of cake before I just don't want any more, whereas I can eat pie forever. Which is maybe not a good thing. Regardless, pie is where it's at. My mother-in-law makes me one of her prize-winning apple pies for my birthday instead of a cake most years, and it is so yummy that there are just. No. Words.

Ha! I forgot about that. (I'm pretty sure I was thinking of not only the episode but also Kroki-Refur's "fell on pie," not that they're really different things. *snerk*)

Heeee, and I love how Refur's pie thing has somehow worked its way into canon, at this point. Yay pie!

But . . . but . . . neither Sam nor Dean have fallen on pie.

I mean, yes, they've "fallen on pie," but they haven't fallen on pie.

And just for the record, "You're gonna get me some pie!" is a favorite line from the season.

Along with *double take* "Big pretzel!"

But the grandfather of the little girl possessed by Lilith? In New Harmony? Dies at the table AND FACEPLANTS IN THE PIE!!!

Which is maybe the funniest thing ever.

Ah, I see what you're saying.

But is it Death by Pie, or Death By Creepy Child with a Pie Chaser?

(Either way, Creepy Child needs to keep her Creepy Child paws off my Dean! No more Creepy Child hugs, and if she even thinks of causing Dean Death By Pie, I will have to sic Yorkshire Cerberus on her.)

*nods firmly*

Smallville and Ma Kent's apple pie. . .

In the Heat of the Night -- cops would stop at the diner for peach pie or pecan. . .

And so many comedies - so many cream pies. . .

Personally? I want to see some show mention the favorite of the Finger Lakes - Concord Grape Pie (yum!)

I think i'll never understand what people find in sg-1 (pie or not) it's so cheesy it hurts.
But yay for Twin Peaks - it was delicious :)

Aw, I love SG-1. Maybe it has something to do with being overly familiar with a lot of older American scifi? Because I started out watching mostly scifi, and SG-1 is awesome largely because it both mocks and reworks familiar themes and ideas.

Cheesy? You betcha. Cheesy on purpose. Fun? Oh, yeah. :-)

Maybe you're right cos it can be the same as watching here our old movies - cheesy as hell but do indearing cos i grew up with them.
As to SG-1 - maybe it's funny i can't judge but i don't see any character's development at all. Or if they try they fail, imho of course. But again - maybe it's just not for me cos i also can't watch Star Treck, like at all and i know that some people like it :)
