Project Still Life Recap continues
Jul. 17th, 2008 05:43 pmGood afternoon, sports fans! Well, it's Thursday, so that must mean that I went to the LoC after work. Today's viewing was a bit of a challenge, as everyone was around and wanted to hang out right by my viewing station to chat.
And when they weren't chatting at my viewing station, they were being very boisterous a few cubicles over.
On the plus side, though, Geo has a co-worker who is a fellow admirer of Mr. Ackles. At first, I wasn't sure if she was a Dean fan or a Jensen fan, but it appears that while undeniably being a Dean fan, she most assuredly appreciates the finer points of a younger Jensen. So she joined me for a few minutes of viewing.
Sadly, today's ep was not all that Jensen-heavy. On the upside of this, it means that this ep will be fairly easy to transcribe (famous last words) when the time comes.
But between the Jensen-light and the audible distractions in the office, my brain was not able to concentrate as per usual.
So please forgive me that it might take an extra day to make sense of my discombobulated notes. Because what was there? Was gooooooood.
In other news, how much do I love Jensen? So very, very much. He continues to give Max an uncertainty of his place while simultaneously conveying the need to protect his sister(s). (He's got more scenes with Emily in this one, and I do so love them together.) He mixes vulnerability (with Maggie) with strength (when protecting Emily), and as open and extroverted as he plays Dean (and Alec), he's quite the opposite with Max. Max is a quiet man, a man of few words, and everything he says and does has purpose. I love Jensen's portrayal of Max.

Date: 2008-07-18 10:03 am (UTC)If it's like Wonderfalls (which had the advantage of actually being aired for 3 eps before being cancelled, and thus being able to build a small but extremely vocal fanbase), then the series will be self-contained, rather like a 7-chapter book. But at this point, I can't tell if it will end in a good spot or leave it on a cliff hanger. With only 3 more eps to go, I don't see them solving Jake's murder before the end.

Date: 2008-07-18 03:00 am (UTC)If one wanted to view these videos, one would need to arrange viewing with the reference librarians in the Moving Image department in Washington, DC. You would view them in the reading room of the Madison Building (not the Jefferson Building, which is the big, pretty library that includes the Rotunda). You'd have to explain your need to see the videos (research for a book or doctoral thesis or whatever). You'd schedule a viewing time, and the NAVCC would ship the tape(s) to DC for you to view.
You can probably find out on their website (http://www.loc.gov/index.html) the process a researcher needs to go through to gain access to the material.

Date: 2008-07-18 10:21 am (UTC)Don't be too green. I, too, am sporting something akin to Kermit the Frog colors, as I have friends who will be attending San Diego ComiCon next week and will, if all goes according to plan, be seeing both Jensen and Jared live and in the flesh.
But I'm glad I can help. I know it's frustrating not being able to see performances you know are floating around out there.

Date: 2008-07-18 11:06 pm (UTC)I've only been aware of Mr. Ackle's work since last October, and I'm completely smitten. He is my current thespic infatuation. I'd planned to make a post regarding said infatuation. I really should get around to doing that.
