My first entry
Jul. 25th, 2006 08:11 pmGreetings and salutations!
Well, after much pestering by
izhilzha, and with additional prodding from
kerravonsen, I'm finally starting an LJ. Yes, V-who-has-no-LJ now has an LJ. I have no idea if I'll be able to keep up with it, and it's going to be quite a learning experience, as I'm not at all used to all this coding and such. But here I am.
For those who know me, you already know that I am sometimes identified on the 'Net as bunqui (as my eBay handle indicates). In the two fandoms in which I've been active, I'm simply known as Felicia. I'm writing under a nom de plume in the Numb3rs realm.
And speaking of N3 (my own abbreviation for Numb3rs), I finally decided that I should get this LJ going before the new season. I realize I have until September, but no time like the present, right? So now I have a space in which to wax eloquent about frivolous things like the Eppes family and my newfound appreciation for Rob Morrow and other frivolous fannish ramblings.
Right. So. Carry on.

Date: 2006-07-26 05:48 pm (UTC)Aw, you'll get used to it. And though I sing the praises of the LJ FAQ for answering questions, if you have any specific needs-to-know (like how to make someone's name show up as an LJ name), feel free to email me and ask. Because I wish I'd had someone to do that with when I joined LJ, seriously.

Date: 2006-07-26 06:39 pm (UTC)And I have discovered that if I use Netscape, it does give me the Real Text tools. But I like the speed of Safari.
And you know, it's strange. I have so much to say, and yet, nothing at all.
Off to see if I can find some Dr. Joel icons . . . care to point me in the right direction?

Funny coincidence? You got your LJ almost exactly 2 years after I did.

Oh dear. Um. I tried finding some of those back when I first got into NX and couldn't. Very little NX fannish activity on LJ, apparently (why, I don't know). You might use your interest links to see if they bring up any icon communities or people who have it listed as an interest and also make icons (suggestion: put dr. joel fleishman on your interests as well as the show itself).
If I find any, I'll point you at them!

Also a very good suggestion.

Keep in mind that every now and then I get the urge to do icons on request -- but if it's for a fandom I'm not into, you would have to find suitable screencaps for me to use.

And therein lies the problem--finding good caps for the icons. Sadly, we don't have the software to do grabs from my DVDs.
Hm . . . .

But somebody else may have, and might have put it on the web.

Oooh, thank'ee, thank'ee. Duh. I never think to use Google for image searches.
And how strange is it that I'm finding far more NX screen caps on foreign language sites (they appear to be German or Eastern European sites, though I can't say for sure) than I am on American/English language sites?
