Greetings and salutations!

Well, after much pestering by [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha, and with additional prodding from [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen, I'm finally starting an LJ. Yes, V-who-has-no-LJ now has an LJ. I have no idea if I'll be able to keep up with it, and it's going to be quite a learning experience, as I'm not at all used to all this coding and such. But here I am.

For those who know me, you already know that I am sometimes identified on the 'Net as bunqui (as my eBay handle indicates). In the two fandoms in which I've been active, I'm simply known as Felicia. I'm writing under a nom de plume in the Numb3rs realm.

And speaking of N3 (my own abbreviation for Numb3rs), I finally decided that I should get this LJ going before the new season. I realize I have until September, but no time like the present, right? So now I have a space in which to wax eloquent about frivolous things like the Eppes family and my newfound appreciation for Rob Morrow and other frivolous fannish ramblings.

Right. So. Carry on.

Yay! Welcome! And if you want more user icons, pop over and have a look at my icon-journal, [livejournal.com profile] ka_iconage. Though they're mostly Doctor Who, you might find something that you like, anyway.

Oh, Dr. Who icons are a good thing, particularly the 9th Doctor. I especially like "Follow me . . ." and "Fantastic!" Thank'ee kindly. I'll let you know when I snag 'em.

It will take me a while to figure the ins and out of all this. And I'm a little perturbed that I don't seem to have Real Text options in posting, so I have to do everything longhand. Yippee skippee. :-/

But learning is good. It keeps the brain agile.

And it's so weird not to have to sign posts.

Aw, you'll get used to it. And though I sing the praises of the LJ FAQ for answering questions, if you have any specific needs-to-know (like how to make someone's name show up as an LJ name), feel free to email me and ask. Because I wish I'd had someone to do that with when I joined LJ, seriously.

Thanks, hon. I'll have lots of questions when next we speak. (And you know, last night would have been good, 'cause I couldn't get to sleep). I think I'm just going to have to practice some stuff, like cuts and quotes and things like that. I did figure out how to do the LJ user thing. Though whether or not a remember it is a different matter.

And I have discovered that if I use Netscape, it does give me the Real Text tools. But I like the speed of Safari.

And you know, it's strange. I have so much to say, and yet, nothing at all.

Off to see if I can find some Dr. Joel icons . . . care to point me in the right direction?

Whatever. :-) You'll find things to say; I did.

Funny coincidence? You got your LJ almost exactly 2 years after I did.

Off to see if I can find some Dr. Joel icons . . . care to point me in the right direction?

Oh dear. Um. I tried finding some of those back when I first got into NX and couldn't. Very little NX fannish activity on LJ, apparently (why, I don't know). You might use your interest links to see if they bring up any icon communities or people who have it listed as an interest and also make icons (suggestion: put dr. joel fleishman on your interests as well as the show itself).

If I find any, I'll point you at them!

Indeed I did give that a try, but it got a little overwhelming after a while. Maybe some other time.

Also a very good suggestion.

Hmmm.

Keep in mind that every now and then I get the urge to do icons on request -- but if it's for a fandom I'm not into, you would have to find suitable screencaps for me to use.

Ooh, is that an offer? :-D

And therein lies the problem--finding good caps for the icons. Sadly, we don't have the software to do grabs from my DVDs.

Hm . . . .

Not quite. But there may be an offer in the future.

But somebody else may have, and might have put it on the web.

Oooh, thank'ee, thank'ee. Duh. I never think to use Google for image searches.

And how strange is it that I'm finding far more NX screen caps on foreign language sites (they appear to be German or Eastern European sites, though I can't say for sure) than I am on American/English language sites?

Hello, friend of [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha. So glad to see you've finally got a journal, and without my having to help join in the prodding. :) Am flisting you, BTW. Perhaps it will remind me to send you feedback on your stories in future; I read the first one you put up on Cal-Sci. Liked it very much, but so far the remembering to send feedback has not coincided with having the energy to do so, for which I apologize. Will try to get that done this week or next. Anyway, Welcome to LiveJournal!

Oh! I'm a FoI! :-) I like that. And thank you for the welcome! And for the flisting. And for the feedback. I can assure you that it would take a long time for you to fall behind in your feedback to me; I'm just not that prolific in my writing (neither in my real writing nor in my fic writing). Though should you decide to LoC, it's always a treat. But I don't need to tell you that.

Am I babbling yet?

Thanks again for the welcome!

Hee! I am far too amused by that little appellation.

And don't discourge LoCs from Mistral; she's awesome with that kind of stuff. Seriously awesome (to the point where I'm sad I don't currently have an N3 fic to send off for a beta, because I LOVE her betas...).

Oh, no. That wasn't my intention. LoCs are always nice to get. I'll even take suggestions on how to improve in the future, provided the suggests are presented in a positive way and are in keeping with my own understanding and interpretation of the characters.
