Well, there's two episodes in a row where I would keep watching if I had the next chapter. They're on a role.
I am ambivalent and troubled by Dean now carrying the mark of Cain. I am unsettled by this development, even more so than Castiel was unsettled by jam.
And while the fudging of scripture always makes me twitchy, the parallels they wrote between Cain and Able and Dean and Sam are fitting, and I kind of like them. Cain traded his soul for Abel's just as Dean traded his soul for Sam way back in the day. They fit Cain's backstory to Dean's, which is kind of cool.
And I did rather like him as a character.
I liked Tara. Sorry that she's gone.
Dean and Crowley working together. Crowley still playing Dean. Blergh. (That's a comment on the character, not on the show.)
Sam and Cas getting some bonding time in, and Cas fully healing Sam. Yay, there are no excuses now.
Although Dean said when he left that he was going to hunt down Gadreel. Alone. Now Sam is hunting down Gadreel. Is Sam trying to beat Dean to the punch? Hm . . .
Sam and the angel going after an angel.
Dean and the demon going after a demon.
A change-up for sure.
I believe the actress playing Colette was Anna Galvin, whom I know from a previous fandom, The Sentinel. Will have to check.
Quite a cool fight scene, too.
BTW, was that Bobby's kitchen? (The set, I mean. Of course.)
Yes, this is one I'll be re-watching.

Date: 2014-01-22 08:11 am (UTC)I am enjoying Crowley again no matter what he does. I can't help it. I know he got boring for a while there, but Mark Sheppard improves every scene he is in. It was past time for some Cas and Sam bonding so I was okay with that. The PB&J thing was a bit weird and overdone, but whatever. Loved Dean's fight scene and the actor playing Cain made it work.
According to a tweet from Jared it was Bobby's set they used for Cain's house.
What I am seeing so far are Dean girls excited that Dean has a storyline that has nothing to do with taking care of Sam. And Sam girls upset that Dean is getting a storyline and that he will be pushed to the side. People mad the boys were separated, which I still didn't mind. I still want the show to show me how much the boys care about each other, but if takes a long angsty arc to get there, that's okay with me right now. It makes me want to write more fic so that can't hurt. I still can't quite reconcile how the show is now with how it used to be, but I am looking forward to next week again, which is more than I can say for the first half of this season.

Date: 2014-01-25 06:43 pm (UTC)Caine annoyed me only because in my head canon Caine is Christopher Kane; leader of the Wild Hunt. I did like the First Sword; the glimpse I had of it made it look like the jawbone of a horse - or maybe a donkey. (as in Sampson - hmm. . .)
I already dislike next week's episode; Garth a werewolf? If they kill him I will be angry.
