Awesome friends are awesome!

Last year, George started digging out a space for a patio. Motivation was hard, though, and we've had a hole in the yard for almost a year.

Then this past week, friends from our Life Group joined forces and helped him build the patio. It was almost done when he met me in WV to bring me home from a week in Ohio.

When we got home, he took me out back to show me the progress, and . . .

It was finished. Done. With a pot of mums and a b-day card for George.

We are going to christen the patio with George's 50th b-day this weekend. Woohoo!

(Now it just needs tiki lights and a fire pit. *nods*)

Now I can have pots of herbs on the patio, and a patio peach tree. Whee!

Tiki lights?

I actually meant tiki torches. Something like this (http://ipcblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Tiki-Torches.jpg). Oil torches that can burn lamp oil or, as I want, citronella oil to keep the bugs away. I'm thinking one on each corner of the patio.

Our "tiki lights" are more like fairy lights with little bambo coverings/shades. Like this (http://patio-string-lights.blogspot.com/2011/07/bamboo-patio-string-lights.html). We have those strung around our enclosed porch.

It's just in time for autumn. I'm hoping for lots of cook-outs (whether many people, or just a few).

George has promised me a fire pit in the past; I just need to choose one. I think as the weather starts getting cooler, a nice gathering around the pit on our patio would be great fun. Mulled cider, roasted hot dogs, toasted marshmallows . . . mmmmmmm . . .
