SPN - 7.23
May. 18th, 2012 09:26 pmGuess what! The iTunes download came through early. Got it around 6:30pm. Just finished watching.
Carry On, Wayward Son. \o/
Kind of slow paced (or something) for a season finale.
"Starry Starry Night"! One of my favorite Don McLean songs.
Baby is back! (Though bzuh? at Meg driving her.)
Bobby's send-off. Oh, boys. Oh, Bobby. Was sticking around really worth it?
Crowley is evil.
Shades of S3. Dean! *clings*
Sam!
Dean and Sam. *gasp*
Where's Castiel? Don't leave Dean with those glowy-eyed monsters!
Oh, I hope this bodes well for summer fic.
Also? I really am very much liking Dean's new jacket.
And there we are, until a Wednesday in October.

Date: 2012-05-19 04:22 pm (UTC)This almost feels to me like a "do over," like this is an opportunity to address those things from Dean's POV that didn't get addressed the last time.
Though they are gonna have to come up with something truly phenomenal if they want to meet the squee factor of introducing Castiel in the S4 opener.
I can't imagine that this will be the same type or quality of trauma that Dean underwent in Hell, because it looks like he'll have the opportunity to fight back. But think of all the things he's sent to Purgatory over the course of the series. And the fact that he was a vampire for a short time, though he never completely turned. That might complicate things.
Plus, someone somewhere suggested that he might run into Amy while he's there. Awkward.
I don't imagine that they'll keep the boys apart for too long, but I can see them making a 3-ep arch out of this, with Dean fending for himself in Purgatory and Sam teaming up with Sheriff Jody to try to figure out where Dean went and get him back.
I'm trying to think of individuals Sam could seek help from, and I'm not coming up with a long list other than some one-off hunters we've met over the years. And Death. Sam summoning Death and/or Tessa could be interesting.
I imagine I'll do a lot of speculation over the summer, and be posting random thinky posts. This looks like an excellent jumping off point Sera left us with. We'll see what Carver & Co. do with it.
Self-promotion: Did you ever read my trilogy of fic dealing with Dean's death and return? They're listed in my fic index if you're interested.
(Off to re-watch the ep right now.)
