Dean: I can't live on rabbit food. I'm a warrior!
Sam: Dean, you'll be fine.
Dean: You don't know that!

Just some impressions . . .

1) Poor Dean going into toxic shock, needing his road food. His hopeful look that the "all natural" pie was okay. Oh, Dean. *bakes him homemade pie*

2) Really, really enjoying the Alpha!Vamp. He's fascinating in a morbid and creepifying way. The line about him snatching Emily from the playground reminded me of the vision/dream/message thingy from "Twi Hard," with the little girls on the playground. He makes for a sly and fascinating dangerous "ally."

Also, Eve was somehow connected to the leviathans? That would explain the black goo when she died. Makes for a puzzle, though, with her being killed only with phoenix ash (still one of my fave scenes from S6) vs. borax.

3) Seriously, Bobby is going to hurt one of the boys. The fact that he broke the mirror that Dean was standing beside kinda tells me that it might be Dean.

4) Oh, Dean, you with your word coinage. Vamptonite.

5) And perhaps most important *g*, Dean's new leather jacket. I've been wanting Dean to acquire "his own" leather jacket ever since the old one was packed away in a box/stolen en route to a photo shoot. He's his own man now, and the new jacket reflects that. (I've also read that Jensen helped design the new jacket, which tickles me greatly. That's awesome. It's similar in cut to the black one he's worn to conventions, yes?)

Also? Jensen looked really good. But then, when doesn't he?

Also also? Smart!Dean! One of my favorite flavors of Dean!

Mileage varies, but I was amused by the "see you next season" line. Nice shout-out to the renewal. (I wonder if that's why we got the renewal announcement when we did, prior to this ep, so that the ep would not steal what was left the the network announcement's thunder. Or maybe I'm just overanalyzing.) Also, does this mean that we get alpha!vamp back next season? The possibility intrigues me.

Not sure where they're going with the bone of a righteous mortal thing. Precedent has said that Dean is the "righteous man." But "as light and good as the leviathan are hungry and dark" is kind of cryptic. I think I've written before about Dean being what I see as the messiah figure in the show. And he is the character that hasn't fallen, so to speak, when he was on this plane of existence (he broke in Hell, but his being a/the righteous man is what made his breaking significant to begin with). I shall wait and see.

All in all, this ep played better on second viewing and had some nice touches of interaction between the brothers.

As a side note: I've discovered my new favorite Mexican beer: Sol. (Not El Sol, as that would be Dean's favorite (fictitious) beer.) I like it better than Corona, and actually, better than Modelo, which we tried last week.

I'm beginning to suspect that Bobby is going to be the Big Bad of Season 8... he has the flask now and I don't think he's going to be giving it up.

"Also? Jensen looked really good. But then, when doesn't he?"

Amen, sister!

That leather jacket was amazing- I didn't like how red it was and the color didn't look so good paired with that green shirt of his but the cut was so sexy!

I actually kind of liked the color of the jacket, because it was different. (I've read that Jensen chose the color, so I'm curious as to what his thought process was regarding the color/design . . . and how much input Danneel had indirectly. :-) )

I have greatly mixed feelings about making Bobby the Big Bad for next season. Haven't we killed Dean enough? Of course, I'm also coming to the conclusion that we saw the last of "our" Bobby in "Death's Door." He can't be the same Bobby, can he, having chosen to stay in the veil? I mean, why can't our guys ever catch a freakin' break, right?

Musey has been playing with a little bit of a scene wherein Bobby inadvertently injures Dean quite badly and begs Sam to salt and burn the flask. Whether or not Musey will actually get around to writing it remains to be seen.

I've always noticed that Jensen always dresses very nicely... whether I should attribute that to him or Danneel, I have not idea! :P

Yes, you make a good point, but when has the show ever shied away from hurting Dean?

Though regardless, I would love to see Bobby injuring Dean. It would be especially awesome if it's like a serious injury. Then again, that could be my fan fiction side talking :P

I'm not talking like losing a limb serious but something more serious than a concussion or a broken leg.

If you go back to some of the early convention vids (first American con was Chicago, November 2007, and how sad is it that I know that), the guys both dressed like "guys." No real "fashion sense" whatsoever. Which is part of what I love about Jensen--he's not a Beau Brummell fashion plate. He always looks good, but it seems there was talk within the fandom that their wardrobes/fashion sense went up a notch or two when they each got married. I think Jared has as much as admitted that Gen lays his clothes out for him when he's looking more fashionable.

They've also talked about how Jensen often has to tie Jared's tie for him, because Jared never learned how to tie a tie (a fact he's quite proud of). Ha!

And they've been known to consult each other regarding what they're wearing at press events like the last PaleyFest they attended.

I don't know if Danneel can take all the credit, but I kind of think that her influence does have a little bit to do with it.

The guys are just so freakin' adorable.

Hurting Dean is pretty much a staple ever since first season. I'd just like Sam to step in and take care of him, rather than what went down in S4 when Sam was distracted by other things.

Outfits like this: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/yksgemxjm5a/Jensen+Ackles+Danneel+Harris+Katsuya/ZLh8DP96M03/Jensen+Ackles seem to scream Danneel- I love the outfit but it doesn't seem like how Jensen would dress himself.

Where's the fun in being a wife if you can't tell your husband how to dress? ;-)

Yes- I would love to see that!

I'd also love to see the show allow Dean to suffer without calling him a "whiny princess" or a "Nancy".

I would also love to see them let him suffer without shoving that pain to the background so that they can deal with Sam's pain.

Something else I loved about the episode?

Smart!Dean! Smart!Dean with the figuring out that Alpha!Vamp was in over his head, and with figuring out to pick the lock with the IV needle and with the smuggling in an extra syringe and all the other smart!Dean stuff he had going on.

Smart!Dean! \o/
