What a nice surprise!
Apr. 3rd, 2012 03:46 pmWell, not really a surprise, as word was going around yesterday, but . . .
Last year, I donated a small amount to the Down Syndrome walk in Dallas that Jensen's brother's family took part in. Jensen's nephew has Down Syndrome, and one of the fundraising auctions held at a convention last year went to support the cause.
As is the case with fandom, a bajillion fans jumped on board, and I was no exception. This is obviously a cause that has touched Jensen personally through his family, so I donated a modest sum.
Today when I got home from work, in the mail I found a very nice thank you letter from the Josh Ackles family, which included an autographed photo of Jensen with his nephew. (The autograph is a copy rather than an original, but who's gonna quibble?) What a nice gesture for the Ackles family to make!
If I get a chance, I'll post a scan of the letter and photo, but if you're impatient, I know it's already been posted elsewhere.
Jensen doesn't often talk about his chosen charities, so it's nice to know when he supports a cause personally and from his heart.
Them's good people right there. :-)

Date: 2012-04-03 08:26 pm (UTC)I honestly didn't realize we were all going to get them, because I opened my mailbox this afternoon, and there it was. And I only gave a small donation too.
That was very sweet and generous of the family, because it's not something that's expected for a donation.
*loves* them all! :D

Yes, it was very generous of the family to take the time to do that. I appreciate it.
They're good people.
