Regarding the timeline for the "Repo Man" flashback--Jim Michaels, in an interview at Winchester Bros., places the flashback in S3. I've already discussed why I think this makes the most sense, so I won't rehash.

I haven't listened to it, but here's the link if you're interested.

When I first watched the episode I very briefly tried to figure out when it was set but it was too much work so I was like, "Screw this." haha!

Glad to get the answer w/out having to strain my brain ;-)

I'm just very tickled that I picked up on the clues and put them together correctly. There's just so much in that scene that points to S3, and I have to claim my victories when I can. Heh. :-)

I don't see why anyone would have thought it wasn't s3 - there is only a 3 week window in could have been set *in - in between Time is on my side and No rest for the wicked - the period of time after they learned Lilith held Dean's contract but before Dean went to Hell. /in my head without listening to the interview

MY gripe with the timeline was that they put the spotlights back on the Impala for the flashback, but in canon the spotlights were gone well before Time is on my side, making the whole thing one giant car porn cockblock, LOL. I WANT MY SPOTLIGHTS BACK FOR REAL DAMMIT JIM.

*also, that would have been early '09 in the timeline, which is correct. The '4 years ago' includes Sam's year in Hell. Technically in canon current time the year is 2013, not 2012.

Oh, don't even mention the missing year. In "You Can't Handle the Truth," which aired in October 2010, Dean looks at a calendar that says October 2010, which should have been October 2011. Show has gone wibbly-wobbly with the timey-wimey, so I can't with any confidence count that missing year. Because they don't.

I did a simple 7-4=3 (with the attendant "Are they counting the missing year?") and looked for clues. All of the clues pointed to S3.

It just makes more sense for it to be in S3 (which I wrote about in previous entries :-) ).

As for searchlights: Is it too much to hope that in the Impala's overhaul they put the searchlights back on?

Oh, I know. And actually I had that backwards - 4 years ago should be 08, not 09 if you DON'T count the missing year, 5 years ago if you do. *headdesk* (In my defense, I've been running a fever for 14 days and my brain may be literally fried at this point.)

I base everything pre-s4 on the date Dean returned from Hell, 9/18/2008, which was the airdate for Lazarus rising. That's the last time it was really solid.

I honestly don't see why not! To put them back on for one scene is a LOT of work - apparently to install them you have to drill into the mainframe!(?) O.o but Jim's tweets seemed to be saying it was just temporary, and that makes me really, really sad. ;_;
