I'm not sure how I feel about that one. I was engaged throughout the ep, mostly because of Dean and Sam. And of that, mostly because of Dean.
I hate the idea of Dean being a disinterested father. A) That's not Dean. He's got a soft spot for kids, especially kids he considers his own. B) My day has consisted partially of discussion of disinterested fathers in an adoption situations.
I'll have to think about how this sex scene fits into my observation of Dean. This was the first time we've actually seen one of Dean's one-night stands, and he was letting her set the pace. He looked quite fine, but the editing and inter-splicing for the purposes of the pacing and tension of the scene made it difficult to appreciate.
It looks like Bobby might well be a ghost, attached to the flask, perhaps. Not sure how I feel about it.
The
The last 30-60 seconds dropped out of our reception. I'll have to wait until tomorrow's download to find out how they actually left the ep. Oy.
Am tired and emotionally worn out. Lots of phone calls keeping me on a pendulum today.

Date: 2012-02-04 04:15 am (UTC)Look at Dean's response to the possibility of Ben being his child. Surprise, disbelief, interest, pride, slowly moving on to disappointment.
Look at his interaction with the shapeshifter baby.
I didn't entirely click in to this episode, so I didn't entirely absorb what Jensen was putting across, but I'm thinking I saw, "It's a monster" blended with a tiny sprinkle of, "Huh. My DNA." And the scene between Dean and teen Emma I thought was very awkwardly written *and* directed. Overall, it's one of those episodes I'd like to pretend didn't happen.

Date: 2012-02-04 05:12 am (UTC)With teen Emma, I sort of saw "Don't make me kill you. You haven't killed anyone yet." If she'd actually attacked him, I think he would have plugged her out of reflex and self-defense, but they were in a Mexican stand-off until Sam got there.
I didn't see who wrote or directed this one (I usually don't pay attention the first go-around), so I'll have to look at it tomorrow.
This was a first for Dean in a lot of ways. First (that we know of) time he's hooked up with a monster. That's usually Sam's deal. *snerk* First time (that we know of) he's ever had a biological child. Unfortunately, she's half monster. Plus the whole "I'm here to kill you thing" made things a bit awkward.
I dunno. I didn't dislike the ep as much as you did, but it was kind of a weird one.
