Hey, gang. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I could swear--I mean, I'm 99% sure--there's a passage in the NT wherein Paul (at least, I think it's Paul. It sounds like something Paul would say) says something to the effect that he would rather trade his own salvation than see his flock stray. Or something like that. But none of my word searches in my concordance are helping. Can someone point me to that verse?

Thanks muchly!

And how did you know to use an SPN icon for that reply? Hm????

Hey, give me a little credit. :-) With all this talk about Dean and his lost, beautiful soul? Gee. I wonder why I would use this icon.

I am curious what thought process (exactly) led to your search for this verse.

Something else Dean and I have in common: subtlety is not our strong suit.

I don't remember the thought processes exactly, but it was something along the lines of "Nooo!!! Dean!!!!! Don't do it!!!!!" Then I started thinking that doing such a thing was sort of referenced in the Bible. I remembered what Paul said about trading his own salvation for the salvation of others if he could--which of course, he couldn't, and it's not necessary, because salvation only comes through Christ, but the sentiment was there, and I sort of thought, wow. Dean is being almost Paul-like, in the boundaries of the SPN universe, anyway.

That's something I do when my shows start overloading me with twitchy theology or misuse of scripture and such--I have to find an actual verse in my RL canon *g* to re-ground myself.
