Chocolate snack cakes or Banana cream pie?

Question for those on my f-list who read my SPN commentaries. I'm very much planning to do a highlight reel of this week's ep because I loved it like pumpkin pie. But with life trying to run me over, I'm going to have to write it in pieces parts. I can either post as I complete each part or wait until the end. So my question is:

Date: 2011-11-08 01:58 pm (UTC)I'd be more interested in a episode post that's heavier on your reaction to various scenes or lines or bits of business, and a lot lighter on the "Sam did this, and then Dean said that" stuff. By the time people's lengthy episode posts go up, I've already seen the ep (lately, more than once), and reading a straight recap of what happened doesn't interest me. So if you could do...like 75% meta and 25% recap? *smiles winningly*
But as I said, it's totally your LJ, and if you enjoy doing the straight recaps for your own reference, and for the folks who enjoy them, rock on!

Date: 2011-11-08 04:03 pm (UTC)I've been trying to lighten up on the A-B-C series of events and just hit the highlights, but with limited success. Even as I'm writing them, I'm thinking to myself, "Everyone has seen the ep. They already know all this." And yet, I feel like I need to at least mention each scene in order to give mile markers on the way through the ep and help me organize my own thoughts in some sort of orderly fashion.
I appreciate your speaking up. I'm aware of the
issueproblemmethod, and I'm trying to get a handle on it.To be honest, given that the person who encouraged me to start writing these things back at the beginning of S4 doesn't, to my knowledge, even play on LJ anymore, that's why I keep asking for some sort of feedback. Life gets busy for everyone, and I know there are better recaps out there, complete with shiny screen caps from the ep. Not trying to be self-defeating here; just trying to be objective. I don't want to say, "Hey! Comment on my reviews or else I'll quit doing them" but otoh, when no one speaks up, it's hard to tell whether or not these are just being sent off to float through cyberspace all by their lonesome.
So if any of my lurking readers are reading this, don't think I don't appreciate you, because I totally do. Those who've said they read my ramblies, I trust that you do. :-) It's just hard to tell sometimes whether the whoosh I hear from the audience is actually you breathing, or a draft from a door someone left open on their way out.
