Do with this as you will. I just need to type it out.

I was a little freaked out last night when the promo showed Lisa behaving in an evil manner. I've been, in the back of my mind, preparing myself for the other shoe to drop for most of the season.

Then I started thinking about it this morning. From what I can recall, previews this season have been very misleading where Lisa is concerned. For example, at the beginning of the season, there was a preview edited in such a way as to make it look like that Sam killed Lisa. That was so far from what actually happened in those scenes. Then there was the summary that said that Dean was going to rush to Lisa's rescue when he gets a call from Ben. Which, Dean did. Only to find out that the "danger" was a third date.

This led me to thinking about what other scenarios might be in play here. I've always been of the thought that Sera Gamble created Lisa and Ben, and that character has become very important to Dean over the seasons, first as the representation of a longing, then as the fulfillment of that longing and of the support Dean needed after losing Sam. Being Sera's creation, I've been of the opinion that Sera would not destroy the character(s). I'll amend that thought to add that she would, if they got killed off, make their deaths mean something.

The obvious scenario that might be in play in the preview is shapeshifter. If the Lisa we caught a glimpse of is indeed a 'shifter, the real Lisa could be dead. Or alive.

It also could be demon possession, though I think that would probably break Dean's heart, because I'd expect that he'd have told Lisa and Ben how to prevent such a thing. If it were demon possession, the most likely scenario would be that Lisa is dead (that seems to be SOP for demons now). Though she might still be alive. Did I mention that it would break Dean's heart?

Could also be monster possession of some sort.

Or mind control?

Or a nightmare.

Or a doppleganger. Dean was researching dopplegangers earlier in the season, and that could be a nifty new monster to introduce, provided they had the time to explore it properly (which they probably wouldn't this close to the end of the season).

I seem to recall seeing or reading a con report wherein Jensen said something about he was surprised that a baddie hadn't tried to use Ben (and Lisa? By default? My interpretation?) against Dean. At the most recent con, Jensen said that he couldn't see Dean making a life with any woman (though I'd love to sit down with him and tell him that he's given me the exact opposite impression ever since WIaWSNB. Heck, even since "Route 666"). Jensen is sly about the spoilers he lets slip, but he does let them slip on occasion, so that they are recognizable in retrospect.

Next ep's preview plus Jensen's comments has me thinking that things are not as they appeared to me at first. My immediate fear was some sort of horrible ret-con. But there are so many other possibilities. I'm still hoping for a moderately "happy" ending for them, but that's probably a long shot.

Did you see stills for this ep? I think it's a possession. And considering how thorough the show now is eliminating everything (and everyone) sera created i wouldn't bet on anything about poor Lisa.

I'm not sure that was his view of Dean. I think it's what he was told will happen on the show so he *PR-ed* what he was told. I'm with you here i think Dean is ready to have a real family of his own.
