Finally got to watch the royal wedding on Sunday. 'Twas quite lovely, the message presented at the service was great, and the whole thing was a nice change of pace from the standard doom and gloom news fare.

This news event being followed in short order by news that Osama bin Laden is dead. I can't rightly celebrate the death of a lost soul, but there is certainly a sense of satisfaction that justice has at long last been served. And I'm freakin' proud of our US military SF (and intelligence community) for getting the job done.

In work related news, I have a new boss. So far, so good. He seems like a nice guy, and I think my schedule will remain pretty flexible. Plus, now that I'm the "senior" person in the office (meaning I've had more time on the project than he has), I'm kind of valuable, yeah?

In fannish news, I'm still planning on writing my long and rambly. I just haven't had the opportunity. Because there are some things I'd like to comment on, some things I'm going to have to puzzle over, and of course revisit how awesome Dean's strategic and tactical mind is.

In other fannish news, while I'm taking a bit more of an interest in H50 (something akin to, but not quite as intense as, my interest in CSI back in the early days . . . and nowhere near my level of interest in N3 . . . but enough that I'm debating paying for downloads on iTunes . . . and I went looking for an interview with Alex O'Laughlin to hear his regular Australian accent O.o, which is really strange when I'm used to hearing his American accent, which he does very well, btw . . . But i digress . . . ), I'm discovering that finding quality, well-written genfic is 99.9% impossible. Oh, well. I guess I won't be reading the fic.

And speaking of CSI, this is the first season in a few that I've watched in real time. I completely missed last season. This is kind of like CSI 2.0. But you know what? It's like they know I'm back. Like they're offering me cookies to let me know they haven't forgotten about me. They've made several references this season to 1st or 2nd season cases. They did a Lady Heather episode (she's not "Lady Heather" anymore). And best of all? THEY'VE BROUGHT SOPHIA BACK!!!! I was so excited last week when she made an appearance. She was my favorite potential match for Grissom several years ago. The only thing is that they seem to have gotten gorier than they used to be, and have lessened the usage of innards-cam. I used to be able to eat dinner, usually pasta with red sauce, while I watched. Now it's just icky. Blech. But it's still a fun show and has been returned to my regular viewing rotation.

Next week, George and I are going to a film festival in Boston. I still have to do my write-up of the Cleveland Film Festival, don't I.

And while I'm pretty much over the whatever-it-was-that-stole-my-voice last week, I'm still dealing with sinuses and coughing like a chain smoker. Bleh. I'm looking forward to a night when I can go to sleep without taking cough medicine first. Oy.

Thanks! I'm much better now, though I do still have some ucky sinus issues and coughing. But I can sleep through the night without drugs, so yay! \o/
