Oh, the squee of it all

Had a delighfully unexpected moment of fan!girly squee yesterday.
So. I had church play rehearsal last night. One of the actors asked me about a notation in the script, a notation that says the actors should play against the emotion of the scene. He asked me what that meant.
I told him a couple of things.
1. That I had an acting instructor once who said that it's more interesting to watch someone fight against their emotions rather than playing them straight out.
2. I told him that one of my favorite actors does that really well. That even though the lines say one thing, the clench of his jaw and look in his eyes will tell you that something else entirely is going on underneath.
Well, the other gal in the play asked who I was talking about.
"His name is Jensen Ackles," I said.
I had no sooner gotten the word "Jensen" out when she exclaimed, "Jensen Ackles! I love him! I knew that's who you were talking about."
To which I responded with "YES!" accompanied by \o/ .
"Supernatural?" she asked.
"Yes!" I reply.
We proceed to have a minor geek out, and interestingly enough, the actor who asked the original question said something about Smallville.
"He was on that," Actress says. "He played the coach."
"Those are the only episodes of Smallville I've seen," said I.
Being the director and trying to keep everything on task, I had to segue away from the geek-out and back to task.
But I'm thrilled to find someone else (the stepdaughter of our pastor, even) who appreciates the fine acting of our fine Mr. Ackles. Perhaps a season-ending viewing party is in order.

Date: 2011-03-30 11:42 pm (UTC)I was geeking out over Jensen today. I was looking at old Jus in Bello vids from last year and found a set that weren't on Wiki, or were on Wiki and I never saw them. I still haven't haven't gotten thru them all, but loved the Jensen and Jason panel.
Yes. Jensen is love.
