Speculation, Cooking, Southern living

Did Sam trade his soul--and possibly the memory of said trade--for a pass out of the Cage? If so, to whom did he trade it?
If you're like me and like to use your crock pot slow cooker in the autumn and winter, here's a great, easy barbecue recipe you might want to try.
3 - 4 lb pork shoulder roast
1 18-oz jar/bottle of barbecue sauce
1 12-oz can cola.
Put the roast in the slow cooker. (You can spray with non-stick spray first, but I didn't, and it worked fine). Pour the sauce and cola over the roast. Cook on low 8 - 10 hours. Remove roast and shred with fork. (Remove any fat you can.) Remove any fat from the sauce still in the crock. Return the shredded pork to the crock with the sauce.
It's very yummy. Though next time I think I'm going to use a beef roast for beef BBQ, and I'm going to try to remember to include a glug of Kopper Kettle local whiskey to the mix.
Those who know me know I'm an Ohioan. Buckeye born and bred. Mid-Westerner at heart. But I realized that this year (after three years of living here, which is pretty standard for me), I'm starting to get used to living in Virginia. And though my life is generally uneventful--some might even say boring--and I really miss the theatrical opportunities and my old job and the conveniences and the family and friends I left behind in Springfield, Virginia does have something to offer. For one thing, the spring foliage is AMAZING! Secondly, the autumn colors are pretty darn spectacular, too. And the mountain views are beautiful.
One of the things I've found interesting recently is how much I enjoy the recipes in the Southern Living magazines I've been getting. (The above BBQ recipe is a Southern Living recipe.) I love recipes from home, usually from family or church cookbooks and such, and the majority of recipes in my slow cooker cookbook are from the MidWest. But I never really went for recipes in magazines before. So that's been kind of an interesting change.
And . . . I've kind of totally lost my train of thought, what with the comings and goings in the office today.

I'ma try that BBQ beef recipe soonish.
Fall is my favorite season. Took the pups to the park last weekend, and the colors were truly amazing. Yay Ohio!

Date: 2010-10-20 04:54 pm (UTC)Yes! I don't know about "partying," but we (and Dean) are only assuming that the Cage is worse than Hell (or the equivalent to Hell). But if we look at it from the perspective of Lucifer being cast out of Heaven by his brother and locked in a cage/prison . . . would Michael (assuming he's the one who created the cage) make it totally horrific for his brother?
This makes my brain hurt.
it struck me because people keep carefully referring to "the Cage" rather than "hell" as where Sam was, and I want to know exactly how different his experience actually was.
Also? LOVE THE ICON!!!! ICON LOVE!!!! I must find one like it. *grabby hands*

Also, if you happen to come across screen caps of the documentary where your icon came from, I'd love if you could point me in the right direction. I've been looking for some raw caps this afternoon and haven't found any.

Date: 2010-10-20 04:55 pm (UTC)My friend Ti Anna still thinks the Devil is hiding in him somewhere, which, could be. Though I still think if that were the case his offness would lie in him acting too MUCH like Sam (trying too hard in other words) We shall see.
Cooking wise- Yeah, it's crock pot time fer shurr. I don't eat much pork, but I've always wanted to pour a soda over something. I think there's some beef recipe that involves a can of Dr. Pepper floating around out there.
I'm leaning towards Maple Ginger Sweet Potatoes. Don't have the recipe in front of me at the moment, but would be willing to share later. I made it about a year ago and t'was quite awesomey!
YUM!

The thing about my soul trade theory is that I'm not sure who Sam would have traded to. I'm leaning toward Michael having won the smackdown and then allowing Sam to return top side. I don't like the idea of Michael requiring Sam's soul in trade, because I want them to restore the awesomeness that could have been that character. But right now, I think that's a likely scenario.
Or perhaps, since Crowley took over Hell when Lucifer went back in the cage . . . though what happened to the key? Does Dean have it? Oh! Did Cas take it, and it was lost in the shuffle in Heaven? Anyway, if Crowley was the one to let Sam out, it would make sense that he has Sam's soul.
This makes my brain hurt.
However, I really hope we've seen the last of Lucifer, simply because making Lucifer to be still possessing Sam is, to me, a cop-out. Like the writers can't think of anything else so, oh, hey, let's make it be Lucifer. Plus, I do agree that Lucifer would be way more Sam-like than Sam is being right now.

Another option would be that another angel (Balthazar?) got a hold of the key and let Sam out in exchange for his soul.
I know this doesn't speak to Adam, but I never know what they're going to do with him until they do it. (Btw, "Sam and Adam" makes me chuckle. We have a beer here in the States called Sam Adams, named after the Colonial patriot and cousin to John Adams, our second president and all around impressive dude.)
Though I'm not sure how a plot line with Sam missing his soul would be handwaving. Handwaving would be completely ignoring the issue, rather than writing it into the story, methinks.

That's why i think they'll handwave things again. because at least right now any of it doesn't make any sense. I don't think these writers are capable of writing stuff in the way all lose ends would connected and the story sound solid. So of course they'll pretend that some things never happened in fandom and will re-write canon. Again. :( Of course i know we should wait and see but after S5... you know what i mean...
