It's been interesting going back to re-read what I wrote when these eps first aired. If'n you're interested, they're tagged S4.
My comments today are:
In the Beginning . . . still extremely problematic from a ret-con POV. I like the ep itself, what it accomplishes in showing Dean what happened. But Dean actually having been there? In our time line? If that's the case, YED has a very poor memory, because he didn't mention a previous encounter with Dean at all. And YED is arrogant enough that if it had happened, he would have hinted at it. (Yes, I know they probably didn't know they were going to do that when they first shot "Devil's Trap." That's kind of my point. If you're gonna ret-con, make it match.) So either Dean did not actually show up and interact with history on a permanent level (which is implied he did in S5), or there are other Dean Winchesters running around in alternate time lines and we are only following ours. (Multiple Deans does sound like a wonderful thing on the surface, but if that were truly the case? The world would have been incinerated by the overwhelming awesomeness, thus rendering the Apocalypse unnecessary.)
So I smile and nod and take in the information that's imparted in ItB and try to just role with the rest.
Metamorphosis . . . I noticed something I never noticed before in the scene where Sam is exorcising the demon at the beginning of the ep. When Ruby asks about the headaches, and Sam says there are none, and Ruby is pleased, and Sam is helping the guy out of the chair . . . Ruby gets this smug little sneer on her face (behind Sam's back). Knowing what we know now, I'm surprised I didn't pick up on that at the time. This makes me wonder if Gen was at least told that Ruby had secret motives, even if they didn't tell her what those motives might be. Huh.
Monster Movie . . . Still one of my very fave eps of the entire series. Big pretzel! Also? Even in black and white, Jensen has amazing eyes. Also also? The guy who plays Ed was in an episode of Still Life (designated as "Creep" in my transcript). He had a scene with Jensen. *hums "It's a Small World"* Also x3, Dean's good-bye kiss(es) with Jamie. Still one of the hottest scenes in the show, for my money. I love the humor and how much they're enjoying it. All in all, this ep ranks toward the top of my list of fave eps evar.

Date: 2010-07-26 07:37 pm (UTC)Metamorphsis- Rugaru is fun to say... not as east to spell. I felt for that guy and his wife and now baby running around. Nasty as it was, Dean looked awful pretty lying on the table even as blood was pooling out his ears.... Possibly I need therapy... nope not really... he's just THAT pretty.
Monster Movie = LEDERHOSEN! LEDERHOSEN! LEDERHOSEN! Tee Hee! I did get "Jossed" is that the word you used on a fic though. I was working on a fic where they thought they were hunting a werewolf and then it turned out nope, just a shapeshifter who liked to turn into a werewolf from the Howling- which they realized when they got attacked by the Vampire LeStat looking just like Tom Cruise in a blond wig.... because the Shapeshifter had a thing for movies... sound familiar? Yep, that's what I had cooked up in my brain which this episode ruined. I just had more modern movies in mind. But I didn't fret, because this episode was very delightful and hey... my fic wouldn't have been in black and white :-D!!!

Being Kripked is when a fan writes a story, and it ends up being confirmed in canon. So I'd say you've been Kripked.
