feliciakw: (Jensen promo)

So. In my random surfing this morning, I found information (apparently posted to Clif's--aka Tiny--FB) that S6 started shooting "yesterday" (from what I can piece together, "yesterday" was June 21). They're starting earlier than usual, yeah? Does anyone know the September return date for Show? Any news on ComicCon attendance? Inquiring minds and all that.

Finished up the S1 re-watch last night (I'ma have to mainline the show if I want to get through all five freakin' seasons before September). I might have some comments later. (One such comment is "It's all about Dean." Yes, this is in total contrast to my assertion that the mytharc is all about Sam. But it all ties together, I think, in the end. Execution left a lot to be desired in the latter season, but . . . well . . . we'll get there.)

Anyway, Wednesday. 2 days left to get my skit committed to memory. Eep! I've divided it up into three huge chunks, and I've got one pretty well down. I'll work on the 3rd chunk today, I think, and fill in the middle on Thursday.

Oh, Jensen. How do you memorize lines so quickly? You have the benefit of doing so every day (staying in shape in that regard), and you have the benefit of re-takes. Sadly, I do not. Heh.

I don't know what he means by "shooting", but Jensen is back on the set this week and said he had to be there a week earlier than everyone else to prep for directing his episode - so maybe there are set-up shots he's doing with the crew? However, I don't believe the rest of the actors show up until next week, and the official start date for shooting is June 30. That still seems early to me - I thought mid-July was when most fall productions went back to work.

It makes sense that Jensen would be there early for pre-production--scouting locations, shot lists and cast schedules, don't know if TV shows storyboard, but if it does, going over the storyboard with the production crew, etc.

But yeah, it does still seem a little early. But I guess not. June 30 is the last day of June, and I think they usually go back into production in early July (like, before the 4th?).

Nah, they usually start shooting in first days of July s (last year it was July 2nd iirc) so, imo, no early come back.

From what I understand, he went up there over the weekend to work on pre-production for three, since everything will be in full swing by June 30th for principal shooting. Dunno about Comiccon since that's decided by other people. I think September 17th would match last year's schedule. That changes. It's months away. On memorizing lines... Listening to music or a movie that you know well. It keeps that part of your brain occupied and creates a rhythm that makes it easier to absorb. (I don't know if that makes any sense unless you try it.)

That makes sense about the pre-production. It's probably also why Jensen is directing the first ep back in production, because once the season gets under way, he's not gonna have the time to do directorial pre-production (and probably post-production).

I know several people who use audio recordings to learn their lines, but I don't think I've ever heard your suggestion before. Thank you.

My personal preference is breaking the script down into conversational beats and learning the flow of the dialogue. It's getting there. Church skits are always a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants sort of thing.

Oh, no. I believe they are shooting the 3rd one in the right order. He's just doing the prep early.

I see what you mean. If it's dialog, it's easier if you have someone else to read it with you. Barring that, I make a playlist of songs that my character would like and I use that. I've gotten down full-page single-spaced monologues in about two hours that way. I'd think of the scene, I'd hear the song in my head and no matter what else is going on, the words would always come back. It works.

But Jensen said at the Barcelona con that he's shooting the first ep they'll shoot when they get back, which he said will be the third ep we see. Which makes sense to me. I can try to find the clip if you want, but I've watched so many con clips recently that it might take a while to find who posted it. :-)

Re: using songs for monologues . . . Interesting! I've never heard of doing it that way, but it makes sense. That's kinda cool, and an approach I've never heard of before. Neat!

ETA: Found a vid. Go to the 7:50 mark for Jensen talking about the directing schedule. (Prior to that, J & J talk about the final shot of Swan Song, and how Jensen had an idea that the director liked, but they didn't use, "which is why I'm going to direct." Hee!

Oh, cool. That explains things, like how he'll be able to make time for post. Well, that's good.

I haven't seen any convention things at all, except I think I saw the one where Jared is turning on the stool like a guy stuck in a rotating door...(which is different from any other day how?)

I've got several of my fave vids posted here in my LJ. (It's not an exhaustive collection by any means), but there's some entertaining stuff there.

Bwah! Indeed.

ETA: Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpHqoSbE320) is a better, shorter clip of Jensen talking about directing. He also asks that we rave about his ep, even if we have to lie through our teeth. *snerk*

Filming starts June 30. I've given link to BC Film Commission. Scroll down to find Supernatural. They have to file their filming dates with the film commission.
