It has begun . . .

So. In my random surfing this morning, I found information (apparently posted to Clif's--aka Tiny--FB) that S6 started shooting "yesterday" (from what I can piece together, "yesterday" was June 21). They're starting earlier than usual, yeah? Does anyone know the September return date for Show? Any news on ComicCon attendance? Inquiring minds and all that.
Finished up the S1 re-watch last night (I'ma have to mainline the show if I want to get through all five freakin' seasons before September). I might have some comments later. (One such comment is "It's all about Dean." Yes, this is in total contrast to my assertion that the mytharc is all about Sam. But it all ties together, I think, in the end. Execution left a lot to be desired in the latter season, but . . . well . . . we'll get there.)
Anyway, Wednesday. 2 days left to get my skit committed to memory. Eep! I've divided it up into three huge chunks, and I've got one pretty well down. I'll work on the 3rd chunk today, I think, and fill in the middle on Thursday.
Oh, Jensen. How do you memorize lines so quickly? You have the benefit of doing so every day (staying in shape in that regard), and you have the benefit of re-takes. Sadly, I do not. Heh.

Date: 2010-06-23 11:59 am (UTC)I don't know what he means by "shooting", but Jensen is back on the set this week and said he had to be there a week earlier than everyone else to prep for directing his episode - so maybe there are set-up shots he's doing with the crew? However, I don't believe the rest of the actors show up until next week, and the official start date for shooting is June 30. That still seems early to me - I thought mid-July was when most fall productions went back to work.

Date: 2010-06-23 12:04 pm (UTC)But yeah, it does still seem a little early. But I guess not. June 30 is the last day of June, and I think they usually go back into production in early July (like, before the 4th?).

Date: 2010-06-24 03:23 pm (UTC)I know several people who use audio recordings to learn their lines, but I don't think I've ever heard your suggestion before. Thank you.
My personal preference is breaking the script down into conversational beats and learning the flow of the dialogue. It's getting there. Church skits are always a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants sort of thing.

Date: 2010-06-24 04:24 pm (UTC)I see what you mean. If it's dialog, it's easier if you have someone else to read it with you. Barring that, I make a playlist of songs that my character would like and I use that. I've gotten down full-page single-spaced monologues in about two hours that way. I'd think of the scene, I'd hear the song in my head and no matter what else is going on, the words would always come back. It works.

ETA: Found a vid. Go to the 7:50 mark for Jensen talking about the directing schedule. (Prior to that, J & J talk about the final shot of Swan Song, and how Jensen had an idea that the director liked, but they didn't use, "which is why I'm going to direct." Hee!

Date: 2010-06-24 05:18 pm (UTC)I haven't seen any convention things at all, except I think I saw the one where Jared is turning on the stool like a guy stuck in a rotating door...(which is different from any other day how?)

Bwah! Indeed.
ETA: Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpHqoSbE320) is a better, shorter clip of Jensen talking about directing. He also asks that we rave about his ep, even if we have to lie through our teeth. *snerk*
