Left Looking Glass house at 7:20 am. Driving clear. Cross over the Wright Memorial bridge easy. Cross through Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Tunnel easy. Hit congestion and slowed to crawl/dead stop on I-64 outside of Williamsburg. After an unknown length of time sitting in stop start traffic, got on Rt 60 at Ext. 231. Drove Rt. 60 to I-295N, smooth sailing. Breezed past hellacious back-up from I-295 getting onto I-64. Continued on I-295N to Rt. 33W. Took Rt. 33W to Rt. 522N. Arrived home at approximately 1:50pm.
This is why I find actual maps to be superior to Google maps or GPS. One can see all the routing options at once as one travels and adjust accordingly.
(When traveling to the OBX, left at 10:20am. Traveled Rt. 3 to I-95S in Fredericksburg. I-95S to I-295S. Hit congestion and start/stop traffic during merge onto I-64E. Once past Williamsburg, breezed through the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Tunnel easily. Hit heavy, slow traffic crossing the Wright Memorial Bridge getting to the OBX. Arrived at Looking Glass house in Duck before 6:00pm.)
