Off to a quiet start

Well, 2010 is off to a quiet start. It actually doesn't feel much different than the end of 2009, except I feel maybe a little bit better about it. Or something.

The new 'puter is rather awesome. The only problem is I think now our airport connection is outdated. The thing is SO FAST! And it's got a camera on it, so if anyone wants me to figure out how to Skype, I could probably do that. (Or if you've got iChat, I can do that, too.)

We'll be taking down the Christmas decorations this weekend, but between now and then, I'll be taking a few down here, a few down there.

Jared Padalecki got engaged. I wish the happy couple well, but my overwhelming thought right now is that fandom alternately gives me a headache and/or makes me nauseous. Sometimes both at the same time! So, when is hiatus over, so I can get back to Show and ignore the larger fandom? Seriously. The boredom that hiatus brings is nuthin' but trouble.

I have things I want to write, and not much confidence or motivation to write them.

On the upside, the Christmas package from my folks finally arrived. It contained some of my favorite Christmas cookies (date pinwheels) and some homemade candy that is identical in texture to Violet Crumbles. And the cats when nutty with the fresh catnip pillows.

I feel . . . drained . . . right now. I don't know what to do next about where I am or where I'm going.

But January 7 looks like a good date, doesn't it? I like the month of January, and I like the number 7. So if nothing else, today looks pretty in writing. Right?

So I guess I'll try to tackle the little things, the minutiae of the day-to-day and . . . wait . . . or something . . .

It's easy to Skype - just install the programm (it's free) and register your mane and then ask people you want to skype with about their names and add them.

As for today (as Jan 7) do you know it's Christmas here?

Hey I have Skype! But no webcam, so that would be sadly onesided.

We should chat sometime soon. I too feel rather at loose ends as to my current and future plans, but also have a sense that something's coming, something good....

Yay for positive anticipation. I'm not sure how I feel right now. Part of it is lonely, I think. Part of it is having no idea where to go from here, as avenues seem to be either closed or clogged for the foreseeable future.

Weird? Probably. But no weirder than, say, something out of Star Trek, when leaders of different nations hail each other on the vid-screen for alliance-forming.

I also have a habit of using my laptop in ways that would produce the most unflattering angles. *grin*
