Day 7 (Saturday) . . . um . . . well . . . a pretty quiet day. So I'll say here that I'm happy my complexion has been behaving for the past several days. It's nice to be without pain.

Day 8 (Sunday) . . . the Beth Moore Bible study I'm doing at church is really good. Of course, Beth Moore studies are always good--in-depth, intense, they really make you stretch and apply yourself. Good stuff.

And today there are snow flurries in the air. Which is kind of nice. I didn't think we were going to get any snow this year at all.

As I'm sure most of the SPN (and XF) fandom knows by now, Kim Manners has passed away. Reports say he died of lung cancer yesterday in Los Angeles.

Mr. Manners was one of the few television directors I knew by both name and reputation. I distinctly remember watching a behind-the-scenes/making-of documentary on one of the XF discs shortly after Geo and I were finished with our indie movie several years back. I think we were watching a table read when I turned to Geo and said, "This makes me really want to work with a director and a crew that knows what they're doing."

What I've heard of the man, and what little I've seen of him, and what I've observed of his work, he was one of the greats. He knew what he wanted artistically, and he knew how to go about getting it. He was willing to subject himself to the same conditions to which he was subjecting his actors. And he rescheduled an entire day of shooting so he could play a prank on Jensen and Jared. You've gotta love a director who can have that kind of fun on set.

As much as the fandom will miss him, my heart hurts for his friends, family, and co-workers.

Rest in peace, Kim Manners. You will be missed greatly.
