The morning after the night before

I've watched the iTunes download, and yep, there was some fairly significant stuff that got lost in our crumby reception last night. I think from now on I'll have to wait until Friday and watch it fresh from the download, alas.

So, yes, this viewing was more enjoyable, and I caught a lot more than I did last night, in the way of little details.

I see the squee all over my f-list, so I'm sure my review will be less enjoyable for y'all. I'm glad that everyone found it such a ride. I'm sure that worrying about losing the picture put a huge damper on my enjoyment, as did actually losing the picture and sound.

But you know? Enough of this.

The deus ex machina didn't feel like a cop-out to me, particularly since it was brought up later by Castiel. Until Show tells me differently, I'm going to hold onto the hope that this means there's Good greater than the angels. Because really? Zach is no better than Lucifer. And that bothers me.

And speaking of Lucifer, don't ever trust anything he tells you. Like, ever. There's an ulterior motive going on, which is to destroy humanity.

I'm really hoping that if Michael does eventually show up that he's one of the good guys. Because right now? Castiel is the only celestial that is actually good and doing the right thing and believing in God.

I also love that Cas etched the sigil into Sam and Dean's ribs. I'm sure the make-up department is thrilled to death, too. "Wait, what? We have to come up with an Enochian brand for the boys? They've already got the tats, and Jensen's got that hand print we have to do. Now we've got to come up with something else? Curse you, Kripke *shakes fists*--oh. Wait. No, it's on their ribs. Yes! *fist pump*"

So, whoever (Whoever?) zapped the boys out of the convent and into the plane cleaned Sam up and detoxed him. Does that mean all the demon blood is gone? He's 100% pure Sam?

Also, Sammy? You said last season that Dean's taken care of you his whole life, and you want to return the favor. Well, step up to the plate, dude, because every freakin' demon topside is gunning for your bro. And right now, he doesn't think he has anyone he can count on. Bobby is incapacitated (temporary), and he doesn't feel he can trust you anymore. He did call Cas his friend, which is a step forward, so it's entirely possible that he's starting to see Cas as the only one he can even remotely count on. But given Dean's feeling towards angels in general, he probably doesn't feel 100% confident in Cas, either. So, Sammy, you know all those fics out there that talk about how Winchesters don't talk, they do? Well, there might not be anything you can say to make things right, but please, have your brother's back. He loves ya, dude. He'll come around eventually. It's just gonna take time to rebuild that trust.

I'm babbling now.

Does anyone want to read a review? Because as I said, it's not gonna be all squeeful. It's gonna be my visceral reactions to whether or not I like what they did and how they executed it.

The latest TV Guide had some spoilers for the coming season. Have you read them?

My roommie and I were discussing how we hope that Lucifer being suave and charming will be only a front, a la the Unman in Perelandra. He's the Accuser and Deceiver, after all.

I have not read them. But my mom said she's sending them to me snail mail from her TV Guide. I'm tempted to read . . . but I hesitate.

I really liked the way Lucifer was all tempting and cajoling and seductive. That works for me. And as long as it is a front, an act, that's totally in keeping with the Deceiver aspect. Because if Evil were ugly on the surface, fewer people would get snared. But it's not; it's attractive and promising and pleasurable on the surface. That's what makes it dangerous.

But then, I know you understand that. :-) So, yeah. I'm right there with ya.
