Geo apparently missed this Meg-isode (as he calls it) when we watched it the first time. The winning combo of Kripke and Manners. Lots of good brother stuff, both banter and conflict, plus it's the first time we see our adult boys with John.
Does anyone miss the spotlights on the Impala (which are still there at this point in the series)? I kinda do.
Also? Dean remembering Sam's high school drama dork days. And Dean went to see the play!
Also also? Smart!Dean FTW. Using the gaffer's tape to connect the dots (and come up with something that reminds me of the little adapters you put in 45 records to make them play on a regular phonograph). "Do you recognize that symbol?" "No." Time to call Bobby! Oh, wait. We haven't met Bobby yet.
The scene in the bar is great, with the banter and the confrontation and the discussion outside.
Also also? Dean doing the research! Because knowing whom to ask is just as important as knowing what books to look in.
"So, Sammy's got a thing for the bad girl." Uh, get used to it, Dean. It becomes something of a recurring theme later. *tries to hide Sammy from S4*
Then there's the discussion about After. And Sam so wants to go back to school, but the "be a person again" just hurts. Jensen/Dean looks so young in this scene, all but saying that Sam and John are all he has. Implying that if he had any dreams of his own, he's never mentioned them. The hunt and Sam and John are his life, and "it will never be over. There will always be something to hunt." Things haven't really changed, have they?
Reunion with Dad, and good grief but that man has missed his sons. Someone told me once that they read in an interview that one thing Jensen told the actor who played Young John (his name escapes me at the moment) was that John always looked at his sons with love. And you can totally see it here.
And did you notice that the devas don't go after Sam as viciously as they go after John and Dean? Oh, they attacked Sam viciously, to be sure, but in the motel room/apartment? They go after Dean and John, not Sam. Hm . . .
Also x3? Jensen/Dean with the three gashes down his forehead and blood dripping down his face . . . is really kinda creepy and disturbing.
Also x4? This episode tells me that the boys have some really high-powered, super-duper, possibly magical Neosporen. Because those gashes on their faces don't even scar.
During this ep, I figured Meg was a witch. Then she walked away from the swan dive, which . . . totally can't be a good thing.

Why is it your reviews always make me ponder something i didn't notice? Meg wasn't happy about YED's plan but maybe even her wasn't brave enough to ruin it?

And so hot (and tense and beautiful and making you want to watch apoca-movie with him).
