What can I say about "Home"? I mean, really. Back before Kripke went a little (or a lot) wonky with the mytharc. This is a choice piece of . . . lots of stuff.

We get Sam telling Dean for the first time that his nightmares sometimes come true, and that they have to go back to their old house. And we have Dean trying not to freak out accordingly.

We have Dean as the only witness to what happened, and he was only four at the time, and didn't actually see what happened.

Sam learns that it was Dean who carried him out of the fire. Dean calls and leaves a heart wrenching message for John to please come help.

Also? We have Missouri. Her interplay with Dean is highly amusing, but in retrospect, it hurts just a little bit. But you know? After thinking about it, it's exactly right, I think. Missouri is gentle with Sam and with Jenny (I think the mom's name is), because they'll accept it. But with Dean she's tart and firm and snarky. Because really, would Dean have accepted "gentle" as graciously as Sam? Particularly from a woman he doesn't remember, perhaps never even met? I . . . don't think so. (Btw, for all we know, she knows what the boys looked like as kids from photos John showed her at the time, or from photos displayed around the house when she came to investigate the fire. Nothing says she actually met them). Besides, pouty Dean is amusing.

But in spite of the snark and scoffing of the EMF reader and the "He means well. He's just not the sharpest tool in the shed" and "Dean will clean this up," Dean is the one who helps her down the steps when they leave the house, and when Missouri says, "Don't you boys be strangers," she's looking at (addressing) Dean.

Also also? When she tells Sam, "I know I'm supposed to have all the answers, but I don't know" or whatever the exact line is, Geo is convinced that's Kripke speaking though the character. I tend to agree. Heh.

Also x3? This ep hits two of my freak factor buttons. 1) I still, to this day, cannot watch the scene with the repair guy putting his arm in the garbage disposal, and what I can watch of it, I start cringing and flailing and hiding as soon as he reaches the sink in the kitchen. 2) The little boy trapped in the refrigerator. Anyone trapped in an airtight box, or trapped in a box they can't get out of is an issue with me. *sits cringing even as I write this* So, yeah.

So here we go: the ep that takes us into the mytharc where we are now: Mary tells Sam, "I'm sorry." Sam comes clean about the big secret he wouldn't tell Dean in "Bloody Mary." AND John makes an appearance, hinting that he knows something, but he's not sure what.

Lots of chewy stuff here.
