An interesting point (SPN related)
Mar. 30th, 2009 07:10 amSo, Izhi and I had our weekly debrief, and, man, she did not waste time with the chit-chat. Right to the point, she was. And during the course of our conversation, she made a very interesting point indeed.
Sam and Dean has been in this alternate reality for three weeks before the case appeared. You know what that means, right? Three weeks of normal for both of them. Three weeks of living without the knowledge of the Apocalypse or Lilith or Ruby or Alistair or reapers or hunting or monsters or anything. Three weeks without demon blood or forty years in Hell or torture or the weight of the world on their shoulders. For Dean, three weeks without any of this stuff at all, and for Sam, this stuff existed in nothing more than a series of (possibly D&D-induced) dreams.
Three weeks of enforced vacation for them both. Three weeks of a nice apartment and a comfortable bed and healthy food and a steady, honestly earned paycheck. (Hey, do you suppose they get to keep their paychecks? And yes, I'm gonna assume that even if Sam's housing was more modest than Dean's, it was still nice.) Three weeks of distance between Dean's being beaten to a bloody pulp and Sam's demon blood cocktail.
Now that they've got their memories back and they're back in the game, I'm really hoping Show doesn't just brush everything off with an insta-fix, but this could well explain how Dean especially is in better condition than he was prior to OtHoaP going down. (Also? I imagine Dean is really glad to see the Impala again.)
Now here's the question: What was Bobby doing the three weeks the boys were "missing"? How close of tabs does he keep on them?
In other news, con vids are starting to make an appearance on the 'Net. Yay! I'm hoping that someone with good seats was able to record most/all of the Q&As and panels and breakfast. 'Cause this is the closest I'll probably ever come to going to a con or ever meeting the guys.

Can't wait to see this week's ep.

Date: 2009-03-31 12:14 am (UTC)I, too, am looking forward to this week's ep. I wanna know what they've been putting in their Cheerios in the writer's room.

Date: 2009-03-30 01:47 pm (UTC)I do hope they mention their little break during the next ep, but I'm not holding my breath.
The vids are popping up. They continue to frustrate me with the same type questions. I want character stuff. There's been so much good stuff this season to ask about. I want to know about the Ackting and emotions and character bleed-over. *mumbles under breath*

Date: 2009-03-30 02:56 pm (UTC)It really would be great to get some character development and acting process questions. (Truly, I'd be really interested in that.) But I'm okay with the anecdotal stuff, too. Though some of the answers are somewhat repetitive of previous cons. But if things haven't changed, they haven't changed, ya know?
If you're finding vids someplace other than supernaturalwiki, please let me know. :-)
And as a fangirl who has been spoiled (erm, "spoiled" as in has become accustomed to good stuff, not "spoiled" like learning reveals on the show. Oh, you know what I mean) with past con vids, if Creation is going to crack down on recording the events, then they need to put together a DVD of their own, because there are more of us who cannot attend the cons than those who can. :-P

Date: 2009-03-30 03:12 pm (UTC)I know, right. Usually you can piece the missing things together from other vids, but so far no joy. For example, someone commented to Jensen about loving his friendship with Jared, and right when he is following up, cut-off. What did he say? *headdesk*
Yes we are spoiled. Agree about Creation putting out their own vid. I know they put one out for Farscape once, and it was a blast. I think that was Creation.

Date: 2009-03-30 06:04 pm (UTC)Oh, and I'm totally not blaming the posters for what we got. I'm just ticked at Creation for what we don't got. Ya know?

Date: 2009-03-30 05:00 pm (UTC)In my desperation for con info, I've glanced over one of the reports posted to wiki. It touches on some of the acting stuff, specifically how do the boys keep continuity in character when working with different directors, or something like that. Um . . . go here (http://juice817.livejournal.com/275681.html).
Man, I want to talk to this guy so badly.

Date: 2009-03-30 06:37 pm (UTC)If I could ask him one question? Hmmm. If he got that megahit and became a household name, and him being a rather reserved guy, how would he balance fame and privacy. Does he even want to be a household name?
Or? Anything about his Ackting process. Or? Does Dean break his heart and much as he breaks ours? How would he describe Dean's relationship with John? What parts of Dean has he stolen for himself? So much to ask about Dean. Dean!

Hi. I'm Felicia. Thanks for taking the time from your busy schedules to be here. *smiles nervously*
You guys spend so much time together. You work 14, 15, 16 hour days together, you share living space, you attend events like this or the soapbox derby together. You practically live in each other's back pockets. And this gives rise to many questions. Okay, a few questions.
First, have either of you had to restrain yourselves from, like, killing each other?
Seriously, how has being together for so long influenced each of you? Like, have you picked up any habits or mannerisms or verbal patterns from each other? [Note: This is the fluff portion of the question.]
And how has working together affected your performances as individuals? What have you learned from each other as actors? If that makes sense. [Note: This is the acting portion of the question.]
*sits back and listens to profound yet snarky answers*
Now, if it were just Jensen, I might ask him to talk a little bit about Still Life. Maybe. Or about how he gets into Dean's headspace.
And if we just got to go out for coffee together? Guh. It would be all over the place: his career, his acting, his worst experiences in the Biz, his best experiences in the Biz, what projects he'd like to have taken but couldn't, what kinds of projects he'd like to do but hasn't been offered, questions about his impressions and experiences of fandom, what sort of stuff he himself fan!boys . . . so much to talk about . . .

Date: 2009-03-30 09:20 pm (UTC)Either that, or explain that I wasn't introduced to his work until after he'd done AFGM and ask him about that, and his experience acting on stage vs. what he's used to doing (camera work) and not being able to forget his lines and stuff like that. And if he liked it. :-)

Date: 2009-03-30 08:21 pm (UTC)Oh, you just had to ask that, didn't you?
"Ellen! It's Bobby. Have you heard from the Winchesters? No, they haven't turned up for about three weeks now. No, I don't know what they were hunting. Yes, I'm getting worried. Look, if you hear anything call me."
"Jo, it's Uncle Bobby. Oh, your mother called you? So, have you - you and Ellen are what? Now, don't you two do anything stupid. Hang on, where are you? Damn right I'm coming over. If you're hunting Winchesters, I'm hunting with you!"
