This was an historic election. Regardless of the results, it would have been a major milestone in our history--either we would elect a minority president, or we would elect a minority vice president.

Congratulations, Mr. President-Elect.

I did not stay up to watch the election results or returns or polls or speeches. I'm sure I'll hear all about it today at work. And I should probably look for a video download of Mr. Obama's speech, historical as it is.

Just walked in the door from voting. Polls opened at 6:00 AM, and Geo and I were in line at, like, 5:55 AM. It looked like the line for a rock concert or a blockbuster movie (well, maybe not quite that bad, but you get the picture). The sun wasn't up yet, and there were no coffee or donuts in sight. But the line moved quickly, and we were checked in and had our voting completed by 6:30 AM.

And so the Grand Experiment continues . . .

Geo commented on the way home how lucky we are to be able to stand in line to vote without having to worry about being shot or attacked or bonked on the head.

God bless America!

Tomorrow is a big day in the US--Election Day. As I've stated before, politics is not one of my favorite subjects, but there are a couple things I think everyone needs to see before heading to the polls and punching Chad or pulling the lever or tapping the electronic screen:

First, everyone should watch the NX episode called "Democracy in America." Here's why . . . (Be warned for spoilers)

And then there's this Expandrousingly patriotic musical presentation )
